Starting Again

Sep 29, 2010

On Tuesday, September, 27, 2010 I had an appointment with Dr. Bryan Freeman in Anniston Alabama. I was very nervous to go to this conference (as they call it), because I was afraid of the answers I would receive. I got to the appointment early as always, because that is my personailty. Shorlty after I arrived there were others joining me, and wow I was a little overwhelmed. Although I have troubles with my health due to my obesity, there alot of people that are worse than me. We all were herded into the office gave our paperwork to the nurse. I am feeling a little better at this point, even excited at the possibilty that "man this may be a reality this time"!!! A nice nurse came and got me and took my weight, vitals, and a picture (ugh). I was then sent into a conference room where we waited on the group to get finished with their individual weigh-in's. Finally the office manager came and began the conference, I learned so much from her and the presentation she gave. I learned that I did not want the Lap-Band, but I need the Bypass to suit my metabolic make-up. With the Lap-Band there is only a chance to lose 35-50% of your expectant weight lose and you can continue to eat sweets or drink sweets. That is not for me, I have to have some kind of control factor, since with my insulin resistance I crave sweets and carbs. For 3 1/2 hours I listen to the pros-cons of each surgery. Next the Insurance Coordinator comes in and explains her part in the process. I am really getting excited now thinking YEAH!!!!!!!!! Next Doctor Freeman comes in to address the group, keep im mind he has never ever laid eyes on us until today. He walked in the door and thanked each and everyone of us by first name and last name! Even the people that brought a support person and new the relationship to the patient! WOW..........He began his part of the conference by PRAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Met back with DR. July 22

Jul 22, 2008

I had a good visit with the surgeon yesterday. I have    GERD petty bad (which is a good thing). I have 3 co-morbidities that will help me, now I have to see a GP for weight lose documentation or the lack of weight lose which will be the case for 6 months but that is ok because, I really want to have the surgery when I am out for Christmas Break at school. I just have alot of leg work to do myself but at least I am this far. I see the nutritionist on Saturday.

EGD

Jul 16, 2008

I had my EGD with a BRAVO monitor. I have never heard of this procedure where they leave a probe in your esophagus and it measures your acid level. I can tell there is something in there but hey I willing to do whatever. Just another step in my journey. I go see the nutrionist  this Sat.

All the tests

Getting Started

Jul 03, 2008

Today is July 3rd 2008 and I went to the Dr for the first time about Lapband. I finally got insurance that covers Bariatrics. Not sure what kind of hoops that I have to go through BUT at least it covers the surgery. I have a BMI of 48.9 so I am ver much a candidate for the surgery. I am so ready that I would leave right now and go have it this minute. Hopefully I want have to go through many hoops, but I have waited this long I can endure anything they throw at me. Hopefully more to come later.
