So here is my story....nothing that earth shattering, but it is what got me here today.
I was a normal size kid up until the 7th grade. I always had about 15 pounds more on me than my friends, but nothing that was any big deal. Now when I was in 8th and 9th grade I had not grown and my weight was at about 180 pounds. By 10th grade I had finally reached 5'8" - 5'9" and I would go up and down between 170 and 180. So I was always about 25 and 30 pounds above my ideal weight. I was always very athletic, I played softball, basket ball, was in dance, gymnastics, swimming, and track. So being 170 and 180 with an athletic body didn't bother me because I was always pretty firm. I stayed that way until I was about 26.
When I turned 26 or 27 years old I quit working out, but continued going out and drinking every night and eating late at night as well. Within 6 months I gained up to about 250 pounds. Talk about gaining weight overnight.
I then started working out again and cutting back on my eating when I was 30 and got back down to 220 pounds. It was about that time I got pregnant with my beautiful daughter Emily. During my pregancy I gained quite a bit of weight and after she was born, etc. I ended up weighing 270 lbs +/-.
My daughter is 3 years old and I was just so overweight that I just could not get myself motivated. I decided that getting banded may be my answer to helping get my weight back under control espcially before I end up with serious health problems.
My main reason for the band was that is was less evasive and it was reversable. Reversable was the main reason - I couldn't do anything that was permanent unless I was to a point in my life where I was at a life or death situation.
