I've been looking into getting WL surgery done.  I've always been overweight all my life. I'm just looking around at other profiles and trying to get feedback on what they went through and what they are experiencing as a result of WLS.

7/30/04 I talked to my MD and found out that she is supportive about me having WLS.  She thinks it would be a good idea to have done and has talked to several people that have had WLS, and sees nothing but great results. Next step is a Seminar for Dr. Pilcher's Office on 8/20/04.

8/14/04 Well I've spoken with my insurance about having WLS and it will be approved providing it is because of medical necessity. I'm reminded of the necessity by the pain in my back.  The only thing that I need now is the deductable for my insurance.  :-(

8/18/04  So, just this past weekend I've developed a major pain in the back, literally.  I've been diagnosed with Sciatica by the doctor.  So, here I am not even 25 yrs old with my body falling apart.  I've been told I have a degenerative disc in my lumbar region of my back which is causing the sciatic nerve to be compressed and cause my rt. leg to feel numb, be swollen, and hardly walk on the leg itself.  So.. isn't that another reason for undergoing WLS?  Hopefully going to the seminar this Friday on 8/20 will give me more insight on how this can happen even sooner to help me get my life back and save my body.  Now the only thing that is going to set me back is the financial part of everything. I have an interview to see about a 2nd job to increase my income so that I don't have to live paycheck to paycheck and have money so that I can set aside for the deductable that I'll have to pay in order to get my surgery done. Please pray for me, because I'll be doing a lot of praying for everyone. 4/12/05 I haven't updated in a while.  My health insurance has changed and my current doesn't cover Bypass surgery. It's all on hold for now. And it's now 3/14/06!  I got a different job that has Humana with a National EPO system. I went to a seminar on 3/9/06 and am now set up to meet my surgeon on 3/21/06.  So far so good.  I've lost weight since the last time I was on this thing.  Within the last year I've lost a total of 25 lbs.  I don't know where this is gonna lead to, but let's hope it's all good!!!

3/13/07 And a year later I've been scheduling and meeting with doctors upon doctors for requirements.  Did the 6 mths supervised diets. I have had some problems with my diabetes and the sugars being very high.  Well that took 3 months, got started on insulin and gained 10 pounds in the process.  I finally got the clearance through my diabetes doctor. Dr. Reiss' office just called today and now have a scheduled surgery date for April 16, 2007!!! And all this in between my boyfriend and I getting a house!  I'm excited and anxious for everything to happen!! Wish me luck!
