08-05-2007; Hi, my name is Mary Beth. I have been unhappy with my weight, the way I feel, the way I look and the way I move for probably 15 years. I was never skinny but I was most happy and comfortable at about 140 lbs. That was over 20 years ago. I now weigh over 100 lbs more than that and I am only 5 ft tall! I am going to Bariatric Orientation in a couple of days, as well as meeting Dr. Rosenthal for the first time. I work at a Hospital and a patient told me about Dr. Rosenthal. He highly recommended him. Then recently, I saw a big article in the newspaper about a procedure called the Gastric Sleeve. It really interested me, especially the 12 year old boy's story. I figured if a doctor was confident enough to perform a surgical procedure on a child, for sure he would be good enough for me. I will see on Tuesday what everything is about. This is the first time I am really looking into the procedure, what is involved, the cost, etc..... I may chicken out. I'm really not sure. All I know is that it would be nice to live the rest of my life able to move around more freely and not be short of breath. I don't have any medical problems, so far. I have not seen a doctor in 3 years but I do donate blood every 8 weeks and that is what I consider my physical. My blood pressure is within normal limits but I hear they are trying to make the "norm" even lower and my cholesterol can range from 178 to 203. I know if I go ahead with the procedure, I will have had more medical exams than I have had in my life. Well, I guess I've gone on enough right now. I will write when I get more info. Bye for now!
