Thursday 4-1-10

Apr 01, 2010

Hello,

Well, I was feeling really out of it, so when I got to my appointment for the UGI today (4-1-10), I begged to come back tomorrow...which is almost here now. So Friday, tomorrow morning, I will get up at 5:30 am AGAIN...and try to get this done once and for all.

OH, I FORGOT TO MENTION...I PASSED MY PSYCH EVAL. (Wednesday 3-1-10)
YAIY!!!!

After tomorrow, I have one thing left to do and that thing is the Stress Echo on the 9th of April, then, I just need to make my follow up rounds to ensure that all these test results and things get to Kelly ASAP, who is my pre-determination coordinator for the surgery! :)

So that's where Im at. I have been on you tube, living there and looking up everything in the world to do with WLS. Just trying to prepare. :) I can hardly believe this is even happening right now...it so fits me...so spontaneous, but not.  I mean I have done the research...and done some work to prepare...but I'll have to sit down and write my "giving up" story one day so you can understand why this is such a shock that I find myself this close to the surgery. Im so happy.

My weight today 335lbs

Until next time...

Ok...so this is wierd. Im back!!

Mar 28, 2010

I just fell off, I guess that happens to people sometimes. I tried and tried and spun my wheels so hard, but did not seem to get anywhere. I guess because I lived in Waco and none of the Dr's I had been looking into had seen anyone through this type of surgery. I did try, i can honestly say that...but I can be real and also say, there was alot more I could have done and I just didn't for whatever reason feel like there was at the time.

But the deal is... after spinning my wheels...I moved and the place I did my seminar with, had lost my contact info and because of my move. I had just boxed everything up, never to be seen again. AND THEN.... one day...after all this time, I went through a box and found the papers to the place I was looking into getting the surgery through (Texasbariatricinnovations). I called the number on the pages and they immediately set me up with an appointment to see the Dr. I had picked out long long ago. ...I almost didn't even go to the appointment. Didn't want to ride alone, thought nothing would come of it, you know..it just seems so unreal..like this isn't really goig to happen for me. So it's hard to push hard towards something that seems more like a fairy tale...to me anyways. But my BEST FRIEND FOREVER drug me out of the house and took me all the way to Dallas for my appointment. When I got in the room with that awesome Dr. , everything got turned upsidedown in my world. HE TOLD ME....I COULD POSSIBLE HAVE THE SURGERY DONE IN AS LITTLE AS
TWO to THREE WEEKS!!! That was 3/26/10, Im still in shock today. lol

Well...sorry for not getting back with folks sooner..I did go to my seminar, it was held at the Baylor Medical Center of Dallas. I turned in my packet and I await a return of information. The seminar was very interesting.

Today,  I went to see my Dr. kinda let him know what all was going on with me, got an updated prescription for my handicap signed, I looked at it and he had checked permanent, and he also wrote out a prescription that said the same thing, well little do they know..it won't be for long!!! I am going to beat this weight once and for all!.

He is a newer Dr. for me and I have chosen him for my Dr. from this point forward mainly because he will just about help me with what ever I need. I don't abuse it and he does have lines he will not cross...so it works out just right. However they do not have a scale to weight me on there and he sent me across the street to the local nursing home to get a weight on me. That was embarassing, but hey...got to do what we got to do sometimes. 397.4 lbs., but not for long!...:)

My journey begins?

Jun 17, 2007

I am meeting new and exciting people who have gone before me down this same path!! Everone is so eager to help and I am really starting to wonder why I never became a member before...I have been checking this place out for a long time, just never joined till now. I guess because I never saw myself as financially able, but now I have the medicare and things are looking up.

I got an appointment today by calling (1-800-4-baylor) to go to a seminar in Dallas. It is for 6-28-07 from 5pm till 8pm. I am looking at Baylor Medical Center and I will be looking at a doctor named Dr. Kuhn. I have checked alot of other places out by phone, and this it where everything lead me to so far.  This is my very first step in my journey!!..:)

Boy don't I feel like a Queen, not sure who all I mentioned this too, but I got like 4 or 5 e-mails and a couple calls from different places...they were like a knight in shinning armor..."At your service madam"...lol...:)
Im not really sure how a few of them got my contact information...maybe through here? Anyhow...Apparently when you have them means ($) and ya let a few people know you are seriously interested in this..they are more than willing to offer assistance..:) I have contacted places in the past, before medicare...and gained a little knowledge then, but I had to do some digging. Now that I have ins. and have let people know right away...it is all laid at my feet. This is great...I just want to make sure I make the right choice. I will try to observe Dr. Kuhn at the seminar and if he's not right for me, I will certainly have alot of other choices...wow..:)

Someone told me I should seek medicaid as a secondary form of insurance to help with covering the expenses medicare doesn't cover, so I guess I will check into that.

*Wondering* Should I go ahead and start my diet with my Dr. now? or wait until after I go to the seminar...? I am in such a hurry but don't want to mess anything up.  I have had doctors go over specific diets with me in the past, is the diet required by medicare different? Is there some kind of documentation you do along with this diet? I guess there are things I need to find out about.
