Week 13 was a slow weight loss week!

Jun 19, 2007

I only lost 1.8 pounds this week, but that's okay because I think I lost more inches.  I even bought a pair of size 12 bermuda shorts and the fit really well!  Woohoo!  I saw Dr. Wohlgemuth yesterday for my 3 month visit.  He was really pleased with my 60 pound loss in 3 month and said to keep doing whatever I am doing and to make sure to include some sort of resistance training in my workout routine.  I already do that - so I am good to go.  I had a great workout with BIlly Blanks this morning and that includes resistance bands with weights.  I am going to give away some of my size 16 clothes this week.  Some are apparently smaller 16's than others - so I'll keep the smaller ones that aren't bagging off of me quite as badly.  Last night I tried on my pants that I wore allwinter long that had gotten a little tight feeling right before surgery - they fell right off of me.  That was a great feeling.  I can't wait to see how big they are on me when I reach my goal weight.  I have no interest in eating at all lately.  I amforcing myself to eat at least a little bit of protein during the day and doing my protein shooters.  I take my vitamins everyday.  So I feel wonderful - I am definitely tired at the end of the day and have no trouble at all with sleeping.  My video business is keeping me business right now and added to that is my business schedule teaching at EVMS.  I am loving everything about my life right now.  Today my children and I (Along with 1 friend for each of them) are going to Ocena breeze Water park in Va. Beach.  It's a blast there with all of the different water rides.  I wouldn't have done it last year because of my size.  Now I look around and see that I am among the smallest of the moms there most days.  It's a nice feeling, but I should would like to get on the loud speaker and tell all of the obese moms that they really don't need to suffer any longer and how WLS saved my live and could save theirs.  But I know it is a very personal thing and I would never want to hurt anyone's feelings the way mine were hurt repeatedly before surgery.  I had thought I would lose a lot of weight this week because I usually do right after my period, but I guess I should have known I wouldn't after the huge loss last week.  I am hoping to get back up to at least 4 pounds lost for the coming week.  Wish me luck!

Week 12 was WONDERFUL!!!!

Jun 14, 2007

I lost 6.4 pounds and went from being obese to just overweight in the last week! Woohoo! I have on a pair of size 12 shorts right now, but some of my 16's still fit and 14's are fitting well. I love my new job and I start volunteering at the Virginia Zoo on Saturday taking care of the elephants. It should be a lot of fun! My video production business is going like gangbusters right now too. I am really burning the candle at both ends, but it is wonderful. I am reading a lot right now too. I strongly recommend "The Secret" for anyone who wants to further change their life. It is totally changing mine in EVERY way! I feel good and people are starting to call me SKINNY. I am far from skinny, but I guess comparatively speaking, I am skinny. I only have 55 pounds to go until I reach Dr. W's goal. I cannot believe how easy this has all been for me. I am so very grateful for eveything that has happened in my life in he past few months. Life is good - no it's better than good; it's pretty freakin' fantastic!!!!

Week 11 - Slow weight loss this week

Jun 06, 2007

But that's okay!  I am down 1.6 pounds for last week, bringing my grand total to 51.6 pounds lost in 11 weeks.  Woohoo!!!  I am wearing size 14 right now without any problems.  Life is good!  I have not exercised very much this week because of my new job keeping me so busy, but I am going to find a way to fit that back into my schedule because I miss it so much!  I also have not tracked my dietary intake on Fitday this past week which may account for the slower loss.  I do not feel that I was getting in enough calories or protein this past week or water for that matter.  Getting used to my new job has thrown everything else that was in my daily regimine out of whack, but I'll feigure it out and get back on track ASAP.  I measured myself on June 1st and it looked like I had gone down another 2-3 inches on most of my measurements since May 1st; so I'm not going to sweat the slower loss this week at all.

Week 10 - Can you believe how fast the time is flying by?

May 30, 2007

Well, today I am 10 weeks post op already and have lost a total of...drumroll please... 50 pounds!!!!  I can't believe it!  I am so amazed by this surgery every day.  I love this.  I finally have a way to enjoy food without being a slave to it.  I am loving watermelon and salad right now.  I am really enjoying my workouts, too.  I am getting stronger everyday and am seeing some muscle tone now that I haven't seen in a long time.  I thought that I would lose more this past week because of all of the working out, but 3.8 pounds is definitely nothing to cry about.  As you can see, I have not gotten any more patient in the last 10 weeks!  Ha! Ha!  Summer weather is finally here; so it's beach time.  Nags Head was beautiful last weekend.  Hopefully it will be just as nice this weekend.  My new job is going great.  i think it's going to be a wonderful source of extra income and a challenge every day.  he last 2 days of training have been very interesting to say the least. That's all for this week.

Week 9 Ends on a Great Note

May 22, 2007

Well, Lots of good stuff this week.  First, I lost 4.8 pounds this week for a total of 46.2 pounds lost for good!  Woohoo!  Glad to see that it finally picked up again!  I also hit Onederland - that felt great to finally get back into the 100's.  I don't know what I did differently this week to make the weight come off faster.  I did not have much of an appetite - so I know I didn't get in 600 calories most days.  Maybe that was it.  Maybe it's my new workout dvd's - BIlly Blanks, Fat Burning Dance Mix, and Pilates are what I have tried so far.  I still haven't gotten to do any aquacising, but I hope to get to it in this coming week.  I should get in a lot of walking and bike riding over the weekend down at Nags Head, but I also plan to relax and read a book while I'm there.  The weather is supposed to be lovely.  I can't wait!  Well, I guess it is time to post some new pics.  Maybe since I'll be getting dressed for the Spring Athletic Awards for my 2 older children tonight, I'll get a couple of pics taken and posted.  We'll see.  I did not do very well with my protein and my vitamins this week.  I need to make sure that I get them in every day this week.  My youngest daughter's pool party went great on Sunday.  We had 27 seven & eight year old at our house for a birthday celebration for Mary Elizabeth.  We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather.  I am so greatful for that because all of the kids seemd to have a blast.  I made a 3-layer dark chocolate fudge and yellow cake "Happy Feet" cake with buttercream icing anfd didn't even lick a beater or bowl.  I was very proud of myself.  I didn't even have the desire to lick my fingers when icing got on them when I was cutting cake, and I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything by not having any cake.  I ate some of the sweetest, most succulent pineapple and watermelon that I have ever had and that was enough sweet for me!  It is so awesome not to be a slave to food any more!  Enough rambling for now!  See ya next week!

Weight Loss About the same as last week

May 16, 2007

I can't complain about a single thing.  I lost 3.4 pounds this week.  I am so close to wearing my size 14 pants that it's not even funny!  I started my new job, and I love it.  Everything is great!

My friend Brian in Minnesota had his surgery yesterday and is doing awesome!  I am so happy for him!

Life is good!  No food problems, protein problems, water problems, exercise problems or anything!!!!  I reached a goal - I did my entorie Kickboxing dvd - even the burpees and planks and some other exercise that I could not physically do 42 pounds ago.

I am sooooo happy!  This surgery is awsome and life-changing!

Weight Loss picked up a little this week

May 08, 2007

I lost 3.8 pounds this past week. I was hoping for more, especially after my 5 mile walk yesterday and my 4.2 mile walk on Sunday. I think that the lack of exercise on most other days in the past week is what caused the still somewhat slow weight loss. I haven't been feeling well - don't know if it is allergies or a cold, but I have had a bad cough and a lot of congestion. I am going to get the exercise going really well again and see what happens this week. I would really like to average about 4.5 pounds loss per week. It'll take a lot of work, but I know I can do it! I plan to walk 5 miles everyday for the coming week and do some work with weights and/or resistance bands for upper body toning along with some ab work. I got my size 14 jeans on and all the way up, but not buttoned this week. So maybe by he end of next week, I'll be wearing them. The 8 week women's challenge starts Sunday, and I am really looking forward to watching my team's success as we all become more physically fit. I got really sick last night from a super sweet strawberry. I was very disappointed because it looked, smelled, and tasted so good. I guess it was just too sweet! I'll try one again in a few weeks. That's all for now - nothing too exciting this week.

Slow weight loss this week!

May 02, 2007

Well, the weight loss definitely slowed down this week.  I don't know why.  I've been exercising even more than I was.  Maybe it has something to do with my lack of appetite due to food not tasting good at all.  Who knows?  I'm just gonna keep exercising, doing my protein, eating protein rich meals when I feel hungry, and go with the flow.  I am comfortably in my old size 16 pants and some large tops now.  So I can't complain.  Mike calls me the incredible shrinking woman.  That makes me laugh everytime he says it.  The weight is still coming off, just slower.  So that's good I guess.  training for my new job was postponed until next week.  I was really disappointed about that.  But that will be fine too.  Everything is great!  My youngest child turns eight on Monday, and I can't believe it.  She is the coolest kid.  She inherited the best qualities of both of my older two children.  I am so thankful for my little Mother's Day Surprise eight years ago!  Well, that's it for now.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed hat the scale starts going down a little quicker again this week!

Week 5 ends on a fabulous note!

Apr 26, 2007

Well, I am down a total of 32 pounds now.  Everything is going great!  I had my 1 month post op check up with Dr. W and he said I looked great and to keep up the good work.  I don't go back until June 19th.  I am on regular foods now and have no exercise restrictions at all.  So I have kicked up my workouts again!  I am doing more and more every day and loving it, although I am exhausted at night.  For anyone interested, Fitness Magazine is a great resource for new workout routines so that you don't get bored.  Tuna Sashimi and seaweed salad are my must have food right now.  The raw tuna is soooo easy to digest and so full of protein and low in fat.  I am craving it almost everyday (this could get expensive if it doesn't stop soon!  Ha! Ha!)  I tried some watermelon last night, and that went down easily, but tastes a little sweet to me.  I have discovered that I do NOT like food cooked in a crock pot AT ALL!  I am also still trying to figure out a way that I can get my beloved Italian food to fit into my new eating plan.  I'm just going to have to play with some of my fav recipes until I get them both healthy and delicious.  Oh yeh - all of a sudden this week I can't stand the taste of dairy products - not milk, not eggs, not cheese, not yogurt.  They all taste sour to me and leave a horrible aftertaste.  It's the weirdest thing.  It's hard for me to believe that I, a huge cheese addict, cannot even stand the thought of putting a piece of cheese in my mouth right now.  I hope it passes because that is such a great source of calcium.  I am going to post some new pictures too (as soon as my son finds his camera and takes a couple for me).  I don't really see any difference yet, but everyone says they do.  I hope I do soon!  I have dropped to a size 16 in pants and am able to wear some large tops, but XL's still seem more comfortable to me in tops.  My arems a gut seem really flabby, but hopefully all the working out will remedy that situation.  Well, that's all for now.  See ya next week!

THe Scales Definitely Moved During Week 4!

Apr 17, 2007

I don't know if it was the addition of 30 minutes of kickboxing each day last week or increasing my caloric intake to about 600 cal each day (what my doc had recommended) or the combination of the 2, but I lost 5.4 pounds last week!  Woohoo!  I am so proud of myself.  I have also dropped to a size 18 in jeans (they are even a little loose) and am currently wearing a large sweater that never fit before.  Most of my shirts are still XL, but that's better than the 2X that I was wearing over the winter.  I also landed a new job very unexpectedly.  I am going to be teaching at Eastern VIrginia Medical School in a program that service about 6-8 other medical schools in the east.  The pay is awesome and I can work as much or as little each week as I want.  It's perfect because I can still run my video business part time and have time to go to my children's sports events and make a nice living doing what I love - teaching.  I am still amazed at all the has happened in my life in the past 4 weeks.  It's hard to imagine that life could get any better especially with the sadness that pervades our state and country right now in the aftermath of the tradegy at Va. Tech.  I am sooo sorry for all of the families of students injured and killed in such a senseless act of violence.  It breaks my heart.
I am eating just about anything I want (that's allowed).  I have not cheated at all - haven't even had the desire too.  I did get sick lst night after eating some fish - don't know why, but stomach is still upset this morning.
Well - gotta run!  Thanks for all the support everyone has given me!   I am hoping that this weightloss trend continues for a while before I hit another plateau.
