Hello, I am new at this and reading some profiles, I decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed reading about everyones stuggles with diets and it really gets me excited about surgery(lap rny) and getting started on my new me and new healthier life. I had been talking about WLS for a couple of years, then my sister that is a RN, in OR, talked me out of it. Then Sept. 17, 2004,she had lap rny and to date she has lost 110 lbs., looks and feel great and now is one of my biggest supporters. She is off all her medication, walks 2 miles everyday. Anyway back to my life, I am 44 yrs. old and have two daughters in college and I'm raising my husband's nieces 2 children. And run a day care in my home. I have been married for 24 yrs., my husband is really supportive of me having WSL, I tell him I think he just wants me skinny and I don't how he will handle it when I am. I have been heavy the biggest part of my life, when I had my girls it just got worse. I have been on every diet program, diet pills going, I lose weight and then gain back, plus some. I am so out of shape and hurt all the time, no energy. I lost my Dad to cancer Aug. 2004 and my oldest brother to cancer May 2005. The past 2 yrs. have been the hardest yrs. of my life, but the Lord brought me through it. My journey started in Jan. 2005, I was admitted in the hospital and they thought it was a heart attack. Well, we found out it was, acid reflux, and stress. They said my heart was fine and they found 6 spots in my lungs (they think it's just old infection), so they sent me to a lung specialist, he did a sleep study and found out I have sleep apnea and I sleep with a c-pac every night, and that doctor sent me to the WL surgeon. I got all my test done in the summer while my girls where home, I run a daycare in my home and they take care of the kids while I'm gone to all these visit. So we don't lose the income. Anyway all my test are done and letter sent to my insurance waiting for their reply. And with my insurance I have to have 6 months with doctors notes that I am on a weight lose program, so I am doing that, I have 3 months to go. So I don't think the insurance will approve until that's done. I am just praying about it, I am not worried about the surgery, I am excited about and I am leaving it in the Lord's hand and that's where my comfort come from. I am really comfortable with Dr. Pack, my surgeon in Ashland, KY. He is really informative and answers all our questions. And Diane (nurse) is so helpful and a really sweet person, I always feel so excited that it's really going to happen after I talk to her. Well, I guess I have bored you enough, I will try to add more as I find out.

Called the insurance today and they said they denied my surgery because I haven't finished the 6 month doctor documented weight lose program. So I will be finished with it in Dec. and the surgeons office said the very day I am finished, bring them the paper work and they will fax it through again, so that will put it the end of Dec. I was a little disappointed, but I figured this would happen. When I first started going to the surgeon they figured Dec. for surgery. So I will just continue on and I can't wait until the 6 months is up, I what this surgery so bad.

I got a letter from my insurance and after they received the letter from Walter Lindstrom an Attorney I hired out of Calif., they decided that they would pay for my surgery. It was the best news I had received in a while. Anyway I called my surgeons office and Diane set me up with a surgery date. May 25, 2006. My weight the morning of surgery was 235 lbs. Everything went really good and I did not have any complications. It was really hard getting in all my fluids and protien but I am working on it. One of the hardest thing I found was that I needed to take really small bites and slow down eating. When I was use to swallowing everything down fast and almost whole. And getting use to not eating and drinking the same time. My hair stared thinning and that bothered me, but it was my own fault for not getting enough protein. When I started doing what I was suppose to my hair has stopped falling out. I could not chew the Flintstone vitiams or the Cent. vit. they left a bad chaulky taste in my mouth, so now I chew the choc. vititiams and calium and carmel is good to. Chicken seems to really bother me, no matter how small I cut it or how much I chew it, it still hurts going down. Ground round fried up in small pieces is the best and I can eat about anything just not much of it.

Hello, it has been along time since I have updated. I have finally changed over to the new site and I lost some of my other stuff and I don't know how to retreive it. Anyway everything is good, I am down to 151 lbs., minus 84 lbs. My size 12 pants are getting loose and I am in Med. shirt, I feel like a new person. I wish I had done this years ago. This is going to be a good year. I have so much more energy to enjoy this summer. We love to go camping and I am looking forward to this summer. I get up at 5am and do my 3 miles a day with Walk Away the Pounds. And I am so glad I kept with this everyday. It has helped me tighten up alot and I am looking forward to tightening more. My sister would call me every morning to encourage me to excersize and I would make myself get up because I knew she would call and know I have gotten into a routine that I have to keep up. The Lord is so good to me and has blessed me so much. Life is so good. My youngest daughter got an engagement ring for Christmas so now we are planning another wedding for Feb. 2, 2008. My oldest just married July 15, 2006. I will try to get on here and update again.
