My name is Charlene A.k.A " Babygirl" I am 24 yr old going on 25 in 2 more months. I am married to a woberful man; we have two beautiful girls ages 8 and 5. My weight gain began after I had my first daughter. I started on the Depo shot a few months after having her. Within 6 months I started to gain weight but really did not pay it no mind. I was staying w. my mom at the time and she would wash my clothes. So I would ask her if she was washing me clothes in hot water cause my jeans started getting small. All along I was gaining and just kept gaining.. After a year I finally got off of the shot. I would probaly still be on it if I had not had a blackout. The weight that I had gained I tryed really hard to lose. I joined a gym for a while but, I only gained weight. So 2 years later I ended up  having my second daughter. We all know that more weight gain comes along. After having her I decied to get my tubes ties so that I can really focus on lossing weight and not have to take birthcontrol which can cause weight gain. so for 8 years now I have been battling w/ my weight, It has gone up and down. Within the battle I have joined serveral gyms (5), seen serveral wl dr and taken different wl meds such as Phentermetine. Brought so many work out dvd and vhs. I have did the slim fast diet, starved my self. Purchased serveral weight loss pills like Hydroxcut, metabolife, Xeniadren, Dexatrin, Trim spa, Holloywood 48hour diet. I also went and had the staples put in my ear 1 year ago; didnt even work. I finally decied to join weight watchers as a last resort for 10 month I only lost 27 pounds but shortly gained all back. This is two much yo-yo dieting I am tired. I've been researching the wls for 3 years now and I have decied that the surgery is my last option.

I weigh 264lb and would like to get back to 140lbs. This is what I use to weigh before getting on the Depo shot years ago. I have spent years of deiting and exceriseing and nothing seems to work. I either loss or gain and Im tired of it, Ready to make a change. I would love to be in a size 12 again or even smaller; instead I am wearing a 22-24. Been over weight for a very long time now,I have currently for almost a year been doing weight watchers and I have not lost much weight. However, my clothing size has remained the same. I just want to be at my normal weight again; which I was before I had children. I use to weight 180lb; I would like to get back down to that weight.

I was denied for the surgery almost a year ago, I have since then gotten more information that the insurance company is saying that they need. I am ready to go through the appeal process now.

08/24/2006 - Talked to the WL Dr. office w/ my case worker Nicole she advised me that since it has been a year since I applied for the surgery I will have to go thur another consult and everything has to be resubmited to the insurance co. Im very determined to fight this time and not take Denial as the final answer. I have a Dr. appt w/ my PCP on 09/05/06.

09/05/06 - I went to vist with my primary care doctor today; and he is so supportive in my decison. I told him with last year getting denied for the surgery. I thought that i ott to take a different route and look at another option for WL. Since last year I'v joined WW and but taking phentermine which was presribed my him. My WL has been up and down. Had also joined a local gym and that did not last very long; began to gets pains in my knees and back. In my vist today he told me that I have to be very persistant and DONT GIVE UP. I know that the lord is on my side and leading me thur every step that I take. I have been reading everybodys profiles and they are just amazing how peoples apperances change. Change is GOOD! When you are fed up and tired of living the life of being over weight you have to do something about it. I have choosen to fight the insurance this time and not give up till I get an APPROVAL. Hearing those words is the best news that you can ever get. Please, everyone pray for me in my journey to get to the losing side. I have a schedule consult on 09/08 w/ the WL dr, and we will see how everything goes. I was told that thinks are done differently now w/ the process and submitting info tothe insurance. I will update later this weekend.

09/08/2006- I went to the WL seminar at the Raddison hotel today, it was aprox 2 hours. Dr. Gorospe came in and spoke about the surgery and said that he is doing more LAP RNY now than open. I prefer the LAP over Open anyway. In the meeting his Nurse Crystal spoke about the surgery. Crystal has been thur the surgery almost 2 years ago; She looks amazing. After the meeting I stopped and talked to her and informed her that this time I am willing to fight it to the end for approval. Not only that I applied for this surgery 1 year ago and was denied. She told me just DON"T GIVE UP this time. Thats words of god " He says when times get hard and ruff DONT GIVE UP;everthings going to be just fine I will see you thur.AMEN!!! This was the first step in the WL Journey attending this meeting today, They do thing different now she told me that she will call me next week for an appt in the office. Once approved they make all of your pre-op appt for you. I recv my test results (blood work) back from my PCP looks like everything is okay. Thank you Jesus! So now I just need to get back with my Dr. and have him to start the letter of docm WL attemps for me. Thank you Jesus - everything is going to work out just fine.

01/04/2007-- HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!! In my recent update I forgot to mention that I was told that there would be a 400.00 process fee that would have to be paid up front not billed mu the insurance; this is per Dr. Groospe's office. A NEW YEAR!!! God is good !!! I had scheduled my intake apt for 02/16/2007 . I deceided to call the office today to confirm my apt date and time. I was told that the fee would be 200.00 instead of 400.00. Thank you lord !! Cause 400.00 is a lot of money to come up with. I can swing the 200.00 w/ no problem. I also called the insurance to confirm that Dr, Grosope is still covered, Yes his is still covered, deceided to ask if any of the requirements have chng for wls and was advised that there has been some changes, Now BSBC ask taht you have a letter complying that you understand wls, 5 years and wt ( records that indicate for 5 years you have been overweight), 12 month supervised dieting my a phyician. Correction -- Now they only want 6 months. Thank you JESUS. see I can work w this. Until next time I will update more after my apt on 2/16/2007.
