4 Months and 2 days later... making history

Nov 04, 2008

It's not been my plan to write this in such a weird interval, It's just working out that way.

I was hoping that report at 4 months that I had lost 100 (or more) pounds.

I'm 4 pounds shy of that goal, I have lost 96lbs to date. My progress has slowed to a crawl and I'm sure it's my fault. My exersice is non-existent. that has got to change. No doubt about it.

Bigger than me, we now have a new presadent. One that I can be proud of. One that I feel will make a marked differance in this country.

I am proud. and I am tired.

Goodnight.

Yes, yes. I know. I'm bad about writing. This is nothing new. I have been bad about that most of my life. You would think that "blogging" would/could fix that… but I digress.

Yesterday was my 2-month anniversary of my surgery. So how do things stand with me?

Amazingly well, when Lorie and I went to for the orientation at St. Vincent’s, They weighed me at 411 lbs. As of yesterday, I now weight 336 lbs. That’s 75 lbs in 2 months!

Trust me, I’m freaked out a little about that. Not in a bad way. I’m trying to get my mind around that fact, 60 days ago I weighed a whole 9 year old heavier.

I have gone from a 52-54 waist to a 48. From a baggy 6x shirt to a smart looking 3x to 4x. My shoes are looser. My socks are looser. My leather motorcycle jacket, that took me forever to find the one I wanted (Larry’s Leathers in Turtle Creek Flea Market), is hanging on me. My leather chaps are soooo much easier to put on now that I can bend. I also have to check my wedding ring is still on after washing my hands.

I now understand when WLS people say they have sore butts. Mine has some boney things protruding slightly (and I mean slightly).

Looking in the mirror to see if I’ve “changed”, mentally I know my body has changed. I’m still not seeing the results directly, they exist, but my eye was trained to see the old Robin in the mirror. It doesn’t see the small changes over time. It’s like the Indian’s meeting the first white man. They didn’t know where they came from but had seen these small boats. They looked out to sea for a long time, but couldn’t “see” the large ships anchored just off shore. Because they had no reference for them, to the Indian’s the ships didn’t exist in their minds.

Only been 3 times foods not stayed down. I have chalked that up to dryness and/or eating too fast. I have been following my directions pretty well, tested foods in from my book as I can. Wendy’s chili is my fall back meal. If I know that I’m going to be out its what I look for (over Labor Day weekend I went to Ohio to see my family on the bike, 600 miles in 2.5 days).

All and all I’m doing very well I think. I want to thank everyone for the wishes and encouragements.  It really means a lot to me.

From northern Indiana, This is rgthane, signing out!
