My BCBS 6 mos. diet requirement started in December 2007. 5 mos. later, I decided to change surgical programs. While this set my surgery date into limbo, I felt the program at Northwestern Memorial in Chicago was superior. I met Dr. Nagle, the director of the gastroenterology surgical team on my 49th birthday - 8/20/08 and the final insurance approval process began. After an initial denial, I was approved in November 2008 and my surgery was scheduled on 1/20/09. My journey begins.
