doll0777.gif ONE YEAR  10/22/08   105 lbs  lost     Weight 157    doll1151.gif

One Year – Believe it or not a year had come & gone. I'm between 157 & 160 pounds from starting weight 262. A hundred pounds lost. I would like to lose another 27 pounds. 157 lbs still high for me. I am 5’4" tall.    I've recently been considering plastic surgery. I have skin issues on my arms, legs & on my belly, none on my face/neck. But, that needs to wait until I have year and a half.

Weight loss surgery is not an easy journey. .  It takes research, preparation, commitment and the willingness to take charge of your life.  It's a big adjustment; not only for you, but also for people you interact with every day.  Friends, relatives, co-workers and even perfect strangers can have some pretty offensive, hurtful and sarcastic comments about your decision to have WLS.  It took me a long time to realize the reason people behave this way is based on jealousy and ignorance; people pre-judge others' decisions based on fear of change and things they don't understand. After my RNY I just have a much increased self-steam & confidence than before.   Lots of changes. This has, understandably, caused some changes in friendships. At this point some people are not talking to me.  Perhaps they just do not like the changes in my behavior with increased self-worth/confidence.   I guess not everyone are going to like it. A few girlfriends that I wasn't very close to before are a lot closer now. Changes all around. But, it is a new person reborn inside and outside of me
Other than pounds, I'm mostly into a size 12-14, and tops are mostly larges & XL’s.   That is because I like to use loose clothes. On the beginning of the journey I was 4Xlon tops and size 24 from the bottom.
Medical issues I had improve a lot. . I'm no longer puking or having diarrhea as much as I did on the first months. I'd say once in a month and most of those episodes are caused by a) something I knew I shouldn't have high in sugar or fat or whatever, b) not chewing well enough, c) eating too fast. So far on my test results I am doing pretty well on vitamins.   Psychologically, It is difficult for the general public to comprehend that as a WLS patient, your body has changed, but your brain still hasn't caught up.  The stigma of being the "fatty" lives on, if only in your mind.   That's why post-surgery psychological counseling can be very helpful. . I get depress very easily.   It’s really satisfactory journey but a lot of changes in your life & body. But, my depression has been controlled with medication. Talking now about my problems that were related with overweight is gone
