Well, where to begin...I'm 30 years old and have been overweight since my freshman year in college. I started gaining the "freshman 15", which ended up being the "freshman 30". Then I just gradually started gainingg more and more. No matter what I did I was getting fatter. The my first love and I split after 5 years and food became my very best friend. I ate until I felt better. Them I met my now husband. He is wonderful and I was and still am very happy. But, I still kept gaining. No matter what diet I was on it didn't help. My will power and addiction to food was too powerful. I was finally doing very well with weight watchers. I felt great. Then the bomb dropped. My husabnd was sent to Iraq for a 14 month tour of duty in the US Army. Once again, food was my very best friend. He's home and safe and yet I'm 50 pounds heavier. Next thing I knew 2 years had passed and I went from 130 pounds at my graduation from high school to 270 pounds as of today, I have the obesity gene hitting me from both sides of the family and all the nasty little health problems that go with it. I'm pre-hypertensive with an extremely high cholesterol level. I have PCOS and arthralgia pain in my back and knees every day. My breasts are unbelievably huge. I've always been well endowed but now it's just gross. And at $75 bucks a bra, it's a bit expensive. I work in healthcare and one day a new hospital was opening up. Our office staff went on a tour and we met people from all the departments. That's where I found out about lapband. I met an employee who worked in the weight loss center and also had the surgery 7 months agao. She's down 70 pounds and looks and feels fantastic. I was immediately inspired and intrigued. I talke to my PCP and he said I was a good candidate and made the referral to Dr Vanek. And this is where my story ends and begins...
