My story
Sep 22, 2009
I have been struggling with weight for as long as I remember. I went on my first diet during the summer between grade three and grade four. I (my mom and grandma) wanted me to look good when I started my new school. I did not get to my goal weight then or any other time.I have done weight watchers, counseling, Atkins, carb addicts, cabbage soup, south beach - you name it I have tried it. I cringe with the thought of all the money I have spent on diets (food, books, supplements, club fees) and on clothes of all different sizes.
I was looking at weight loss surgery for a long time but was not sure. It did not seem like a good fit and Ithought only really really big people needed it. Well if 280 pounds at 5'2 is not big I am not sure what is.
It is hard to get approved by OHIP in Canada and I ended up living outside Canada for two years so I would have to go home to begin the approval process and who knows how long that would be. So I managed to get enough money together and headed to Mexico. I still cannot believe that I went to Mexico for surgery, but I was very pleased with the experience.
So here I start my new sleeve adventure. Fingers crossed!
Jaime :)
