Hi!!! It has now been 6 months. Sorry I haven't written anything sooner, I have been so busy with work, weight loss and family. I had my six month check up...95 pounds lost since surgery! I feel great and am very happy with my results and progress. I have my weigh-in this morning and I can't wait to see if I broke the 100 pound mark yet. I will update real soon.

I went to see Dr. Guske yesterday. I am now down to 279 from my highest weight of 329. No one like to admit their weight but I do now! I am 89 pounds away from reaching my goal and I'm not going to give up until I reach it. Everything else was good. No health issues except one...I can't burp. If I get the hiccups I can burp but I find that when I eat I develop a gas bubble that causes discomfort and pain. I need to watch my eating habits, and take gas x or ginger ale in an exterme case. I feel great and am happy to say that I have taken my belts in to have extra hole put in because they were too big.
I promise to add better photos soon

I'm back to work and doing well. I'm looking forward to the extra activity so I can keep moving forward on my WL goal. I've decided to wait until next week before looking at a gym membership, I wanted to give my body a week to adjust to work before i start to work it out on a regular basis. No problems really. I'm taking my vitamins and meds. My BP is excellent and I don't crave any sugar or desserts. I had fresh fish (baked) and mashed potatos for dinner, no problems eating and I have noticed the full feeling a lot better. I drink Boost or Ensure in the morning but don't really care for the tastes. I have been asking a friend I met (Deborah) for advice since she had the surgery before me. She is a wealth of knowledge, and she's got a great sense of humor.
I will update again with my next big weight loss or any news that comes up.
For those who actuall ready this...Have fun, smile and have a happy day. Find something to laugh about and thank God for all your blessing, even the ones we take for granted (a beautiful day, waking up in the morning, our friends & family...)
Have a great week.

I went to my check up this week. All is going well. I am healing rapidly & my weight is 292. I have lost a total of 33 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks. I am eating soft foods along with some regular foods, still don't care for eggs & have not had any sweet cravings. I'm taking my vitamins regularly. My blood pressure is no longer borderline...my health & strength are returning. I am cleared to go back to work on Monday.

Hello, I'm sorry I haven't written in a few weeks.
Update: The surgery went well. On the second day in the hospital I got a migraine and it took a day for the hospital to get something to work. I usually take ibuprophen for headaches but can no longer take it. Spent an extra day in the hospital. I lost 8 lbs. in the hospital. Went home & healed slowly. A week after leaving the hospital I was back in with an infection of the drain site. Spend 3 more days in the hospital. Now the weight loss tapered off at 23 lbs. I'm now 302 & holding.
I am healing very well now & am walking around, I went to my primary doc's office and I am now 298 as of Thursday....WooHoo!!!!! I have broken the 300 mark.
My eating is going well, the 1st week was clear liquids & broth. By the 2nd week I was moving up to pureed foods, I got sick on eggs, Dr. Guske said to try them again in 4 weeks. I'm now at my 3rd week since surgery & am eating regular foods very slowly, testing what I can tolerate. I have now had any cravings for sweets at all, I have sugar free popsicles & they are refreshing.
I'm hoping to start a regular workout soon. I drink lots of water before & after meals.
My next appt. with Dr. Guske is this Monday 9/11 I'm hoping I'm cleared to go back to work soon, I miss my job.
Good luck to all of you who are going through all of this & also to those who are thinking of having the surgery. I have no regrets, not even being sidelined with an infection for a week. I am looking at the end results.
Oh yea, my blood pressure & blood sugar levels both dropped back into the safe range, so that alone was great.
Best wishes to all.
Ramon

Just one more day! I was asked if I'm nervous, I'm actually not. I want to just start moving forward with the weight loss. I'm focused, have no regrets, have all things in order. I think the hardest thing now is the wait.
A lot of you have emailed me with kind thoughts and prayers and I thank you all. I will try to update tomorrow before I go to the hospital.

One week to go. I have gotten some great advice and I am ready. Took all my pre-surgery tests and blood work and everything is right where it should be. T-minus 9 days and counting. I willingly ready to except the challenges to reach my new weight goals. Final Doctors visit is set for 8/14.
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers.

I now have a date for surgery, it Aug. 18th. I am taking my final tests at the hospital ( x-rays, upper GI, blood work...) in the next week.
I am also preparing my mind for the changes to come. The changes I have to do and the risks. I am not focused on the short come (weight loss) I am looking on the long outcome, improved health, inner and outer strenght, the help I can provide to other who have weight concerns.
I welcome these tools I am being given to correct the problems that being overweight can bring.
If anyone has any advice or suggestions please feel free to share them.

I have seen Dr. Hart and everything is great. He is sending the clearance for the surgery. I should know soon when I'm scheduled for surgery. I'm excited, but I would be lying if I didn't say I wasn't a little nervous.
I am looking forward to the day when I can get rid of all my fat clothes and be slim again.
I am so ready for this!!!

The pulmonary doctor was great. Everything went well, EXCEPT...I ahve to go take a sleep study (it has to do with stats and risks) and I had to have 12 vials of blood drawn last night also. I can't wait for the next set of tests...NOT!
I know it's part of the process so I will take them and move on.

I am scheduled to see the pulmonary doctor today as one of my pre-op tests. I have a few more tests to go.
I received word late last week that I was approved. I was extremely happy, but a little part of me was worried. Nothing bad, just my mind making sure I've done everything possible and that wls is the next step. I thought about it over the weekend and knew I have done all I can and that I have made the right decision.
I know this is not a miricle cure, it's just a tool to use in my quest to be healthier and better.
I am totally dedicated to making this life change work.
I am so looking forward to the days when I can run again. I also can't wait to be able to ride EVERY roller coaster I come across and hope to one day fulfill a dream of hang gliding.
I again want to thank God for all that He does for me and my family.
