i'm upset

Jun 30, 2009

Well, i thought i'd send a little update here... my bmi is currently 37 since its under40 i dont automatically qualify for surgery...... in order to qualify for the surgery, i need to have a disease associated with my weight such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or sleep apnea.. and i have to go through a 6 month  weight loss program... the problem is, i dont have any of those diseases  (well thank God).... so im gonna have a sleep study to find out about sleep apnea which i doubt i have.... i have "pre diabetes" which apparently doesnt count... and i dont have high blood pressure. if i go through with the 6 month program i may end up losing too much weight and be totally disqualified for surgery all together. i dont think i have it in me to lose 100 pounds on my own without any help.... i get motivated for a little bit and then i stop. with the DVT i had (which doesnt count as a disease for the insurance company) i have permanent swelling and damaged valves which prevents me from excersizing as much as id like.... it makes me feel hopeless. does anyone have any advice for me??

My introduction to you

Jun 16, 2009

Hello everyone,

I recently started looking into lap band surgery. last year i was diagnosed with DVT and was on blood thinners from May 08 until January 09. I've suffered from a swollen left calf since i was 16 with no explanation or diagnoses. then finally last year i was hit with blood clots and found out the valves in the veins are damaged (and have been damaged) for years. i must lose weight to help myself and my problem. so yesterday i went to meet with the surgeon and am working toward scheduling the surgery. My highest weight was 267 (which was nearly 1 and 1/2 years ago) and am currently 235. my goal is 135. We'll see what happens!
