The following are Raechel responses to the Weight Loss Survey:

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I ate always to feel better. I ate in big portions and to feed my every emotion.
What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?
When my son became ashamed of me, right now he does not want me going to his school and in some ways it don't bother me. I can't fit into any clothers everything just looks so bad.
How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?
Well I have known about it for so long I am not sure anymore but I never thought I would ever be able to afford it. I can't even afford it now but I am still going to try to have it.
Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?
Getting my insurance to approve me was so easy and fast but now I have to start all over because I changed doctors.
What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?
I am waiting to see the surgeon.
What made you finally decide to have the surgery?
Well I saw a picture of myself and my son's preschool plus I got diagnosed with PCOS so it seemed like a down hill battle for me. Surgery seemed like a good option because I am really overweight.
How did you decide which procedure to have?
I did a lot of research and knew that my insurance didn't cover every surgery so that made me decide RYN is the best for me.
What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?
I have a lot of fears but not as many if I stay the way I am.
How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?
Well my mom told me no and my husband said no but I ultimately I said yes that was it for me.
How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?
Well my employer woud be my husband (I am a stay at home mom). He was not supportive and that is why it took me a year to decide to have the surgery but once I decided I told him, "I am having the surgery and all I want from you is support not your opinion.

I want to be healthy and feel and look beautiful why doing so. Here is how i hope to look.
