Tomorrow's the big day

Jul 27, 2008

This is it, I'm done thinking and having doubts, I'm going through it tomorrow morning and getting it over with.  I have to be at Tufts medical in Boston at 6am which is an hour away.  Surgery is at 8am.  I was told two weeks ago that I was going to be the Drs. second surgery at 10 but I guess something must have happen to the 8am patient.
Today was really awful trying to have just liquids only.  To make matters worst I had to do the groceries for the rest of the family because I hate grocery shopping and I'm sure as hell not going this week while I recoup.
So I'll let you know how things turn out when I come home.  Right now I'm going to go kiss my kids and tell'em I love and I'll see them when I come home.

One week to go

Jul 21, 2008

One week from today I'll be over and done with the surgery.  It's going to be a long week ahead.  Finally heard from the insurance company giving me the thumbs up.  Also, last week the gov. of NH signed a bill for all insurance companies in NH to cover bariatric surgery for those who qualify.  I'm glad I'm getting in before the rush because there's not many docs in NH that do the surgery even though I'm having mine done in Boston.  Going to pig out for the next few days because I know what's ahead after the surgery.  So afraid that I'll be starving and will fail at yet another weight lose method.  Hope to post some pictures soon. This is all I think about is this surgery and can't wait.

Hello to all

Jul 11, 2008

Okay, I've been a member since June/08 but I finally decided to write in the blog.  I don't usually do this stuff because I usually like to keep my life a little private.

I started this process in Oct/07 with just an info meeting at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester,NH.  In December of 07 I went to an info meeting at Dartmouth Hitchcock clinic in Manchester.  For those who care, do not go there to get your surgery.  For one thing they are not certified to do the surgery by the Bariatric Insitute and insurance companies will not pay for the procedure if the hospital or doctor is not certified.  To make a long story short I decided to go back to CMC.  Great bunch of people and I'm glad it was a long process because many times I would go back and fourth changing my mind about this.

As it turns out, because of the medication I take for my Crohn's disease, the doctor at CMC will not do the surgery and sent me to Boston at Tufts Medical ctr where Dr. Michael Tarnoff is doing the surgery on July 28th.  What is even better is Dr. Tarnoff is the doctor that taught Dr. Campbell how to do the surgery.

So, I've jump through all the hoops, classes, suport groups, test, test and more test and now the time has come.  I still keep questioning myself if I'm doing the right thing and was told that this is very common and I've failed at everything else and keeping thinking I'm going to fail at this but this is my last resort.  I've come so far that I'm now on the other side and it's all done hill from here.
