6.5 Months Already
Oct 25, 2010
OMG, time flies! I've lost 85 lbs now and am still trucking along. I'd do this all over again in a HEARTBEAT because the health effects have been spectacular! I'm no longer on any medication. Yeah! No more high blood pressure, no more high cholesterol, and finally, no more diabetes. It's a miracle really! The weight loss itself isn't hard, it just keeps dropping off. The only thing that bothers me some is that I don't seem to like to eat much of anything right now. It's difficult to find something I actually like the taste of. I'm going to review some other people's comments in the forum to see if this is just another stage I'm going through. Oh, and I almost forgot, but my hair is falling out; 50-100 strands each morning. Thank God, I had thick hair to start with or I might be hiding bald spots by now. I know this is normal and I've increased my protein and vitamins to try to avoid this. Should only last a few more months from what I understand. My food budget has certainly decreased, but I'm afraid I've ramped up the shopping! :-) I've been spending like mad on new smaller clothes. Now I'm starting to worry that I may shrink even more and all these wonderful new things won't fit me anymore! I'm turning off the shopping gene for the near future anyway. I can't afford to keep this up!
3 Months Out - Wow
Jul 15, 2010
I can't believe how fast the time has flown by! I'm just over 3 months out and so far down about 53 pounds. I think the thing that's surprized me the most is how some of my tastes changed. I heard that might happen, but somehow I never really believed it. I couldn't and still don't really get how the taste buds in my mouth could be so affected by the surgery on my belly. But, let me say, tastes sure do change, sometimes as often as day-to-day.
There are days when I love the taste of something, only to have it again a few days later with a different result. For me, who used to love breakfast foods, it's been a rough go. I don't seem to like eggs much anymore no matter how I cook them. The same for sausage, bacon, french toast, and pancakes.
Oh well, just when I'm starting to miss those things and feel sorry for myself I remember that I'm continuing to lose weight and I'm loving the smaller sizes I'm starting to wear. In the end, that's what really matters.
Happy to say I have only been "sick" two times, both my fault for eating too fast. It's been an adjustment to say the least to remember to slow down. I've shoveled it in for years and now I have to stop and take a breath between bites. It's been a learned behavior.
