The next chapter...
Mar 29, 2009
Hi everyone...
My name is Pamela and I have seen the benefits of bariatric surgury first hand, Three years ago, I underwent surgery for a lap band. Initially, I was 370 lbs., and I managed to lose 80 pounds for the three years. However, I experienced some complications from the surgery-I believe most are stressed related-and I have to have revision surgery on 4/7. Basically, I am having the band removed and I will under a gastric bypass. Initially, I feared having a bypass for the first surgery because I thought that the pouch would rupture. I also thought that the lap band was sufficient. Don't get me wrong...the results from the lap band were wonderful...I went from a size 26/28 to a size 18-which is the smallest I have been since the eighth grade. However, I want to sustain these results and improve more. I hate to be the first to admit it but the surgery changed my lifestyle and improved the quality of my life.
Although I have eight days to go, I would be lying if I said that I am not scared. I am terrified actually. I fear the changes that will come after the surgery...how new and old people will treat me and adjusting to a smaller size. However, I believe that it is time for me to stop making excuses and begin a new life that is filled with happiness, joy, good health and smaller clothing sizes. Indeed, in addition to being frightened, I am also excited as well. Therefore, this is not an end to the story of my life but another chapter that I can't wait to see in the future. Don't you agree? :)
Hope that those who underwent bariatric surgery enbrace further success and prospective patients will make a decision that will benefit their mind, body and spririt.
That's all for now. Until I blog again, have a nice day!!!
