Life is GREAT in 08!

Apr 09, 2008

'Just wanted to say I am so thankful and blessed.  God is an AWESOME God.  I am well, and I'm back on track to losing the few pounds that I've gained.  The 5DPT really works.  Plus, I have been reading lots of insprational, encouraging books that reinforce to me that whatever I focus on will EXPAND!  So, think positive and act in a positive fashion and positive things will be attracted to you!

5-Day Pouch Test a Success!!

Mar 07, 2008

Wow!  the 5DPT was a success for me.  I have reset my pouch and have dropped 8 pounds in the process.  Now I am back on the road to healthier eating, the same way I did weeks & months after surgery.  Somewhere along the way I lost touch with my pouch and began to manipulate it, allowing myself to eat  foods and the wrong type of food.

With the reintroduction of this tool, I feel more in control.  I have introduced this to several other people and it is working for them, too.

So, if you find yourself at a plateu or just neet to get back on track, I would encourage you to try it.  It will be a blessing!

Day 3 of my 5-Day Reset

Feb 19, 2008

Well, I made it through 2 days of liquid protein and today I start with soft protein.  It is amazing that I already see and feel a difference after only 2 days.  My waist and stomach is slimmer and I don't have the dreadful bloated feeling that I had been experiencing.  My cravings are minimal.  I prepared for today by boiling eggs for egg salad and I have my 35gm protein shakes ready.  I have more energy, have cut my coffee intake to about 1/4 of what I had been drinking and I am feeling quite grateful for all of the tools that I have at my disposal

I wish everyone a great day, and if you are feeling a temporary defeat - go to the 5-Day Pouch Test and get started.  It was just what I needed after months of self-doubt and feeling that I had "broken" my pouch.

I've lost 4 pounds already!!!

1 Down, 4 More to Go!

Feb 18, 2008

I'm on my way!  I am so very happy to have found the 5-Day Pouch Test site and have taken action.  Today is just about over and I have survived.  It's all mental for me.  I had slipped back to my pre-op ways and had gained back 25 of the 143 pounds that I lost post-op.  I am ready to relieve myself of those pounds.

I bought a new scale - Homedics Tri-Fitness HealthStation, food scale, protein powder, vitamins, smoothie blender, broth and Protein 2 Go packets to prepare.  I had to pull out all of my artillery because I knew distractions and cravings would come out from the woodwork.  Thank God for giving me another opportunity to use this tool that He graced me with.  I have to remember that there are people who cannot have the surgery due to health reasons, insurance, etc.  I cannot take this for granted and be so caviler.  It worked when I worked it.  I stopped so "it" stopped.  Now I have to get back to the basics.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your successes and temporary defeats.  We are all miracles, remember that!

Now, pray  for me as Day 2 approaches.  THANKS!

Pouch Resetting

Feb 13, 2008

I have decided to implement the 5-day pouch test in order to reset my pouch.  I have noticed warning signs that will lead to significant weight gain over time.  I had my surgery 5 years ago.  I have been very successful and I'm very proud.  However, I became distracted over the last year or so and have regained about 20 pounds.  It may not seem like a lot to someone, but I remember how 20 pounds led to 30 and to 40 and so on.  I have been unhappy with this gain and began feeling defeated.  I went back to old habits of comforting my sadness with "slider foods" and over grazing.  Hell, just not doing what I did in the beginning to lose the weight.

I came across a website dedicated to this test and I felt the flicker of HOPE, again.  I am committed to following through with this process and getting back to the basics.  The feeling of defeat can be overwhelming and will only send me spiraling down.  I refuse to trade my new life to a life that I am too familiar with already.

I encourage anyone to regain control if you are experiencing this, too.  I have worked too hard to fail.  In a sense, my failure to stick with the basics has brought me to a point where I can, once again, succeed.

I can't, He can, I think I will let Him -- that will be my approach.  God will grant me the strength, determination and dedication that I will require to succeed, once again.

5 Years Later...

Feb 03, 2008

5 years ago today, I made it to the other side.  I am so grateful for having had this opportunity to change my life.  I have lost a person in the amount of weight that I lost.  I am working to keep it off because it is not an eternal cure.  After surgery, after the weight loss, you must continue to work on your attitude and relationship with food so that you remain successful.

At my smallest, I wore a size 4, but I wasn't eating properly.  I wasn't as healthy as I am today, at a size 10.  I want to continue the process of being healthy and happy.

I encourage anyone who has had this surgery or is considering it, to work on the issues surrounding your weight.  Being over weight is only a symptom of a much larger issue.  So deal with it as well as your physical health and you will continue to be successful.

Happy Surgiversary to me!

On the road again......

Apr 09, 2007

Last Monday, April 2, 2007 I began a "boot-camp" style fitness challenge.  I signed up for 12 sessions which equals 3 days of aerobic/cardio exercise a week with a modified diet.  My first weigh in was on Friday, April 6, 2007 and I lost 7 pounds so far.

I needed to do something to lift my spirits as well as tone my body.  I was tired of being tired and settling for mediocracy.  I had also quit smoking so I really needed to do some physical activity because I noticed that I was beginning to nibble way too much.  Grazing in other words.

The goal is to lose 8% body fat which will get me back to 30%  Ideally, I'd like to stay between 26%-28%.

I'm really excited about the new body I will discover after some well deserved hard work.  That will be a nice reward.  I'll post my before and after picture when I'm there.

It's amazing that after 4 years, I still suffer from eating delusions -- meaning, I fail to remember that if I don't continue to work out and exercise, anything I eat will come back to haunt me.  Maybe not right away, but eventually it will rear it's ugly head.  So, I will get on the ball.  I don't have to be beaten into submission before I finally get this lesson.
