Hello. I am a 51yo woman with diabetes and a history of polycystic ovarian sydrome.
I was normal weight until college where I gradually began gaining weight.  I began yoyo
dieting until I was eating 1000 cal a day and gaining weight.  I was blessed with 2 children, ages 26 and 23, and never really eliminated the post baby weight.  I joke that I liked being
pregnant so much, I kept the belly all these years.  In reality, I am so so tired of people asking when the baby is due.  In my 40's I discovered in a round about way that I was diabetic, then hypertensive, then had hyperlipidemia...the dreaded threesome!
At first, metformin, did a beautiful job controlling my blood sugars and gave me regular peiods for the first time in my life.  Over time, however, januvia and glipizide were added.  Due to poor control, short and long acting insulin were added.  My A1C is running 7.5 with tons of meds.
Being young yet, I do not want to slowly (or quickly) continue down this path with the diabetes
destroying my body part by part.  So in a few weeks, I am scheduled with the Roux n y surgery and look forward to a much healthier, happier life!
