Closer...

Okay...so guess what?!  I got my insurance approved and my surgery is set up for June 15th!  3 weeks away from this next Monday!  I'm so excited and I can't wait to start a new life!  I got the good news about the insurance approval while I was on vacation this past week.  I was so excited I know I had a smile from ear to ear.  Rhonda from Dr. Ordoyne's office totally tricked me.  When she called, she didnt sound too excited;  i thought for sure the insurance denied me....and then she gave me the good news....I'm telling you, vacation couldn't have gotten any better!  It was so nice to just get away from everything for a while.  So anyway, I'm off for now....wish me luck for the next upcoming weeks!  I have a lot ahead of me!

One Step Closer

Apr 29, 2009

Ok so my doctor appointments are over with!  I went to my PCP, got the letter from her stating that I am a good candidate to have the procedure completed, went to the psych for the eval, and finally got to meet with the surgeon.  My surgeon has decided that the Sleeve would be the best bet for me.  Dr. Ordoyne told me that it should be 2 weeks until my insurance company gives them the authorization and then we will talk about a surgery date.  They know I want the procedure completed in June so I'm really hoping for them to make this happen.  My supervisor at work is giving me a hard time about taking the time off of work to complete the procedure and it's a bit annoying.  If I don't get it done in June, it's going to be August before I can think about getting the procedure done and I really DON'T want to wait that long.  I want it done NOW.  I'm ready for it NOW.  I'm ready for the life change!

Time to Start BLoGgiNg!

Apr 18, 2009

Okay, welcome to my blog!  So, I figured today would be a great day to start off with my blogging.  A bit of an introduction:  My name is Paige and I'm from southeastern Louisiana.  I'm 22 and I work at a hospital as a patient representative.  I am and have always been overweight.  As of today, I weigh 376 and I'm five feet ten inches.  I have polycystic ovarian syndrome which contributes to insulin resistance which leads to rapid weight gain and basically the inability to lose weight.  I've been on meds and special programs that work; however, it's way too expensive and I don't have the means to continue on.
Working at a hospital I have been able to meet many people that have had the bariatric procedures done and I have been amazed at just about every single patients' story and their success.  I know a big part of why it's so difficult for me to lose at the moment is because my stomach is enlarged and I'm needing to eat more to feel full.  I'm so ready to make a change and I'm very excited about the weight loss surgeries. Personally, I am thinking about the gastric sleeve.  I have much to lose, but I really feel the sleeve is best for me.
I have a bunch of doctor appointments coming up in the next two weeks.  This upcoming Wednesday I have an appointment with my primary care physician to speak with her about the procedure as well as to get her to write me up a letter of necessity to mail off to the insurance company.  I also have an appointment with Dr. Clark...the shrink  *dun dun dun*.  I've heard good things about Dr. Clark.  I've heard he's an old country man so I should be okay.  :)  After those two appointments, I have my appointment on the following Tuesday with Dr. Ordoyne, my surgeon.  I'm so nervous to meet with him most of all, I'm guessing because I'm so excited about it.  I just really hope we can get the ball rolling so I can get the procedure done.  I'm so ready for a change and I can't wait to speak to my doctors!
I'm really hoping that going through with the procedure, my dad will realize that it's not a bad thing and that it really can help with the health issues.  I wish so bad that he would do this procedure with me.  He needs it so much more than I do.  I worry about him every single day and I know that if he doesn't do something soon, then he may really regret it.  He has just about every health issue under the sun and I just wish he'd open his eyes and give the weight loss surgeries a chance.

~*~  Keep in tune, there's plenty more to come!  Thanks for reading and good luck everyone!

                                         Yours Truly,
                                      *$*Paige Marie*$*
