My story? Well, that's kinda boring to tell the truth, but here it goes. As a kid I was lucky, I was skinny, until 13. Then like most I pudged up, but once again I was lucky, in high school, I started swimming competetively. That was a blessing and a curse. I could eat anything I wanted, however once I stopped, I didn't change my eating habits, and started gaining weight. I managed to keep it under control, until after I got married. I married a man who never gained an ounce and ate junk food and fatty food, often late at night. Since we were married I followed suit, and to make it worse I didn't exercise. Anyway the weight came to see me and every year more and more packed on till I reached 300 lbs. That was the largest I had ever been, by that time, I was divorced and working in a hospital. I went to a siminar and made a decision, to take charge of my life again. I was a single mom, with two wonderful (and challanging) children to raise. I had a serious family history of heart disease and didn't want to be like my mom, out of breath all the time and having 2 open heart surgeries. So I went ahead and made the decision to have the surgery. Sadly I was not able to have the by pass, it was to dangerous for me, but I was able to have the lap-band. If I play my cards right it could save my life.
