Medical Problems
Sep 21, 2011
What is up with this?
-Reached down to scratch an itch on my leg Saturday and there was a huge lump!!
-Went to the ER, they ruled out a blood clot and was told to follow up with PCP
-It is the ugliest, biggest hematoma I have ever seen!
-Had to go to my doc today because my left leg was soooo cold and my leg was aching really bad, she told me to take Vit. C, I may have scurvy?! What?!
-checking my platelets
-Have to have some sort of artery test soon
I can't believe I never had any of these problems before now. I am 75 pounds lighter, what in the world?

Terrific meeting!!

So glad that we had a good turn out at our meeting this past Saturday. Please give me your feedback! We need to know what is working and how we can improve.
We didn't get much time in to just sit back and talk this time. I thought it would be good to periodically have a speaker if possible. I thought Mollie @ http://ptcfitnessspa.com/ was very informative! YAY!
Anyway, hope you came away with something from our meeting. Here is what I wrote down:
I do need your help. The samples that you got in your goody bags, if you could be so kind as to send me an email about what you liked or disliked about them, that would be terrific. If you could tell me what product and flavor it was, what you thought about flavor, texture, etc. The people who send them to me only ask for input to improve their products. I supplied the protein drink, hope you liked them. Let me know, I really didn't care for the taste but I can get down 2.5 oz. of protein, probably with my supplements in the morning and that is a shot of 24 g. of protein, done!! And it is the good protein according to my dietician and Mollie, the trainer. I purchased 2 cases for myself.
Also, I would love to meet those of you who could at Broadway Diner one day this week. Send me the best day for you and we will try to get together. I work late so it would have to be after 6.
Next month will be our clothing swap for the colder months. So bring clothes appropriate. We are all at different places in weightloss, don't worry if you don't have anything to bring to swap, please get what you need!!
If you have a great food find, exercise, idea, anything. Please share it with us. Also, feel free to share this information with others and invite them to our next meeting Saturday, October 8th at 11:30.
Thanks for coming, have a wonderful week and I look forward to seeing LESS of you next month!!

- Just 2 weeks without weight-bearing exercises can cause muscles to begin to atrophy.
- We should be eating simply, as few ingredients as possible.
- Stay on the perimeter of the grocery store. Stay away from the aisles as much as possible
- A McDonald's hamburger has so many preservatives in it, if you were to leave one lying around it will last for months.
- Olive oil and coconut oil are the best fats.
- Protein sources: almond milk, beans, hummus, mushrooms, nuts, soy, tofu, quorn, wheat tofu, smart brand products.
- Good sweeteners: Nu-Stevia, Xylitol
- Calcium: dark, leafy greens, Kale chips
- Eat rite pizzas: http://www.lindasdietdelites.com/healthy-frozen-foods-66/?zenid=9b4d03862b81bd99138cfb27a35fbeb2

91 days post op or 13 weeks...
Jul 10, 2011
I am amazed!! The Lord is soooo very good!! I have been unable to exercise at all. Been unable to hardly sleep with the pain in my hip/back and still I am losing. Been trying to eat the right foods and it has paid off big time.
Current weight: 213.8 which is 56.2 pounds down POST-OP!! That is insane!!
Inches Lost since last month: 4.5, Total inches lost: 40!! Crazy!!
I would love to post before and after pics but for some reason I am unable to. It says they are too big no matter how small I shrink them.
I have tried to stick to the all protein diet. Trying for no carbs but of course I do get some in. I was going for 2-3 weeks with a small loss and then having a big one after that but that seems to have ceased with the lack of exercise, not complaining.
Wednesday is my 3 month follow up appt. with Dr. McGill and I am looking forward to it. Was trying to wait this pain thing out until I talked to him. You know when you have something wrong you have to start at some place and who knows where you will end up. Going from one doctor to another. I was hoping Dr. McGill could pinpoint what was wrong and give me some insight of where to go from here. I hope I haven't waited too long to get some relief. I was taking Ibuprofen a couple of times a day and I think it has messed my stomach up. I was sick yesterday, probably why I lost that amount of weight (3.6 pounds) this week.
Trying new things:
Taco seasoned beef with diced tomatoes and greek yogurt
meatballs
Quiche (good protein!)
Mexican casserole with shredded chicken, cheese, green chilies, greek yogurt, tomatoes
Lots of cheese, cottage cheese
I think I dump with very sweet things so I have to stay away from that, nice reminder to stay on track by the way!
Overall I am happy with the results so far. I have been dragging lately so I'm hoping the doc will do some bloodwork and see if I'm lacking in some department. I know work has been awful lately, especially trying to eat. I have never been so stressed out that I couldn't eat until I took this job. My husband is so supportive but is putting on weight, he wanted to lose weight with me. I don't know what else to do for him. Everyone is noticing the weightloss, even little kids when they hug me, they look up with a question mark in their eyes. It is pretty funny! Even my feet are shrinking. My grown boys think I am shrinking in height too but I was told I would look taller as I lost weight. I don't know how 5'4" could look taller but I was hoping anyway.
The Support Group I started has been great! We had 7-8 people at the last one and I have been trying to find another location besides my home to have it. I know we may have another 1-2 people coming tomorrow. Keeps me accountable!
It's all good! (my new motto!)

Pounds lost: 52

Exercise: not as good as when I first started but haven't had a stall yet!! Hoping to up the ante now that my back is feeling better, ( I hurt it by starting to run before I should have)
Water: need more as well
Vits: doing good swallowing horse pills
Foods: Mug Eggs, cheese sticks, meatballs and sauce, shrimp, trying not to do carbs and when I do this I still get at least 40 grams. I think this is the key for me to losing weigh****ching my carbs.

11 week update!! Woo Hoo!!
Jun 26, 2011
Lovin' the scale!! Lost another 2 pounds! Don't know how, I haven't exercised in 2 weeks due to my back and hip hurting but am happy with the results. Would probably come off faster if I was exercising and I plan on starting back again today after work.
So now I am down 50.2 pounds!!
We did go to Dahlonega, GA Saturday and walk around some but I was in horrible pain until I could take some Advil.
How is everyone else doing?
Vits: Getting them all in including Calcium Citrate horse pills!
Water: Still working on getting more. If I don't get in at least 48 ounces in I have horrible leg cramps at nights.
Exercise: nada, but that changes today!!!
Food: Eating about the same stuff. I need to plan better. Still enjoying Eggface's Mug eggs, chicken, Laughing Cow cheese, Greek yogurt mixed into different things in place of sour cream, cottage cheese with fruit
Advice: Take your measurements before surgery and each month thereafter, take a before picture and then take a picture once a month, at least!!

Lbs. Lost: 48.2!! (all post op!)
Inches Lost: 35!!
I lost 3.6 pounds last week, weigh in was today. Amazing, since I hurt my back running and haven't done a thing. I am praising the Lord for losing weight.
My job is soooo very stressful and I have a hard time eating while there. I'm hoping I haven't really messed up my protein intake since I cannot tolerate the protein shakes. I have an interview today for Sleep Tech, let's hope this works out, everyone seemed so nice and this is what I went to school for.Starting over is difficult but it has to be better than what I am going through.
Everyone is finally noticing that I'm losing weight! My husband was right, I was still wearing the same clothes, pretty much a tent, how would they know I had lost weight wearing things like that? I put away my size 20's, some of my 18's, I'm in between 16 and 18, what a great place to be!! I have begun wearing dresses and skirts to work so I don't have to buy more pants, I think I can get away with the dresses and skirts for awhile and...drumroll please....My thighs don't rub together as bad as they used to. I would never dream of wearing a dress or skirt all day for that one reason.
I am so very blessed to have had this surgery and to be able to lose this weight. Praying I will be able to exercise soon. I wanted to begin weightlifting like Brandi Wonderland, her arms look terrific but until my back cooperates, I better be patient.
Our support group is going wonderfully. I have written several phone numbers down to call and find a bigger place for us to meet. We have a very diverse group coming and we are all learning so much from each other along with lots of support.
Praise be to God!!

Wt. Loss Post op: 42
Liquid intake: pretty good, I get at least 48 oz. Need to step it up a bit!
Exercise: Lovin' Podrunner interval training. I am addicted. Never thought I would say that!! Currently on week 3. About to start some free weights to tone up my arms, shoulders and back.
Vites: Taking prenatal (not pregnant), flaxseed oil, Prilosec, Chewable calcium, chewable multi.
Food: Lovin' Eggface's Mug eggs for breakfast!
Tuna salad and Pork Rinds for lunch, yummy!!
Cheesesticks
Chicken Venezia tonight, new find, I"ll let you know how it goes. P.S. dry, hard to get down.
We ate at Red Robin Saturday. My husband got his regular Royal Burger with egg on it, yuck! And you can add an extra patty for only $1.99. So that is all my meal cost, of course I couldn't eat it all and we were going to continue to shop and it was too hot in the car for me to leave it for leftovers
So my DH ate it for me. It was pretty good. I'm a cheap date for sure!!
Lovin' my sleeve!!

7 weeks
May 29, 2011
So it has been 7 weeks since VSG. Here are my stats
Pounds lost: 35
Exercise: not doing so good since beginning a new job
Liquids: usually get 48+ oz. in daily
Vits: ok
Food: I need to plan better. I am getting tired of the same old stuff. Hopefully can take the time today and figure meals I can eat with my family.
I am very happy where I am. This week was the least amount lost in one week -1.2 lbs. but I began a new job and I am having a heck of a time figuring when I can exercise AND eat. There is no breakroom and no time to snack.
Anyone have a favorite food find?
But...drumroll please!!
I walked up Stone Mountain on Saturday!! 1.3 miles UP!! And of course down too!! It was brutal with the Georgia heat but I am so proud of myself. I just wi**** was a little closer where I could get a yearly pass and do it more often!!
