Day 68 - 50 lbs gone!
Apr 09, 2010
Wow.....for awhile there when I was stalling for a few weeks....I never thought I was going to do as well as I have. Just 9 1/2 weeks since my RNY and I'm down 50 lbs and 3 sizes! My goal is to lose 10 more before I go back to TWH in the beginning of May. It's so nice to pass a mirror now....see the new me! Bought new clothes a little snug right now, but they won't be for long! The best part is I'm feeling great. Not only losing weight, but going to the gym has really helped. I have more energy now and stairs aren't my enemy anymore.

Day 40 - 2 sizes smaller
Mar 11, 2010
Back to work (March 4th) and joined Women's Fitness (March 1st)......so been really busy lately. I've been to the gym 8 out of 11 days and I'm starting to feel the benefits. Not sure why but I seem to be in a stall for the last 2 weeks. Probably not drinking enough water...it's so hard to get it all in. I'm only taking in 500-700 calories a day. I know some of it may be because I'm gaining muscle but really how much more does muscle really weigh? At least I can see I am losing some inches....I just wish the scale would move down a little faster.

Day 17 - The Egg Incident
Feb 20, 2010
As of Monday I started on puree and was looking forward to an increased variety in foods. Had a scrambled egg one night and no problems. However the next morning, my stomach revolted. I don't know if I ate too fast or if I didn't break it down enough but I was nauseated and in pain for over 2 hours and did not feel well the rest of the day. It was horrible. It will forever be known as the "Egg Incident" and a good reminder for me to take things slowly. I'm a little scared of trying new foods now. I'm still having trouble getting in all the protein I'm suppose to and worried about hair loss if I don't. It won't be funny if I'm bald when I get married in September! Read some information about Biotin but haven't spoken to my dietician about it yet. Biotin is suppose to promote hair & nail health. I'm up for anything to help prevent going bald!

Day 11 - Visited TWH today
Feb 12, 2010
Day 11 - I had my first post-op appointment today with the doctor. All is going very well. I'm down 23 pounds (13 before the surgery and 10 pounds post op). Almost a pound a day....seems a little extreme but I'm very happy to see the pounds disappear. I'm not suppose to start exercising for another 2-4 weeks. I will be happy to move into puree foods on Monday. I bought some unflavored protein powder to add to the soups from Bruno's that I love. I'm at 50-55 grams of protein per day and will keep on working at getting what I am suppose to get in which is 70-80 grams per day.

Mmmmmmmm
Feb 09, 2010
Ok....being on the full fluid diet can be boring.....especially when you have to concentrate on getting so much protein in. Anyways, I found something delicious to add to my diet. Brunos is a meat/deli place here in Pickering and they also sell homemade soups. I bought the potato leek soup and pureed it in the blender.....mmmmmmmmm! So good. I think I will check out what else Bruno may have that I can puree and make this diet a little more interesting!!!

Feeling great!
Feb 06, 2010
5 days post op and feeling great and doing well. 17 pounds down since I started my pre-surgery diet. Still slow getting in my protein but that will come with time. Bored at home but trying to do a little more each day without overdoing it. Got lots of movies and magazines, but Brianna (granddaughter) at 9 1/2 months is the most entertaining!

My surgery (RNY) was yesterday and I came home today. The Doctor said I am doing very well. Still in pain and bloated with gas but otherwise ok. On the road to the new me!

Tomorrow's the day!
Jan 31, 2010
Tomorrow, Feb 1st is the day I have my surgery (RNY) at Toronto Western Hospital. The clinical team were very nice and I was quite impressed with my doctor. It is a little nerve racking.....but I have faith and look forward to the future when I can run with my granddaughter Brianna.
Best wishes to all of you!
Lori
