I just found out that the fax I sent to Dr. Kim's office on Monday did not go through.  I re-faxed the PCP clearance.  About 10 minutes later Jennifer from Dr. Kim's office called, said she received the faxed and could schedule th surgery.  She asked when I wanted to do it, I said ASAP.  I wanted it by the end of July, so perhaps I could take a trip in mid-August.  She said that Dr. Kim could do it on July 24th, I said fine!  She said I'd have to come to the next Nutrition class and exercise metabolic rate test which is next Tuesday the 17th - I said OK.  She told me that I could come to the hospital early and have the blood work done - had to fast before the blood work.  Then eat breakfast but nothing after that since you have to fast 4-5 hours prior to the metabolic rate.  Jennifer also scheduled my pre-op appointment with Dr. Kim for Friday, July 20th!

I went down to Celebrations this afternoon, had to go to the hospital's business office and pay my deposit, fill out some paperwork, sign some papers and they gave me the orders for the EKG, chest xray and bloodwork.  It didn't take long for the EKG, had to wait about 30 mins for the chest xray.  Then went to see Jennifer at Dr. Kim's office, she checked off the tests required for the blood work.

I decided to stay down at Celebrations to go to the evening information session and support group meeting - I'm still trying to decide whether to have the lap-band or the sleeve.  I ate lunch and still had time to kill so went over to Old Town - got an iced coffee (it was hot out) and bought my fiancee a pair of blue die to hang from the rear view mirror in our "new" 1967 Chevy Impala.

The meetings were good, just reinterated all the information that I had already learned.  But eveyone at the supoort group meeting had had the RNY ( even though it was the open forum) so no new information to help me make my decision.

I had my appointment with my PCP today to get clearance for the surgery.  My doctor did a mini-exam and EKG - all is good.  Also based on my blood work 6 months ago and the fact that I past the stress test in January with flying colors she said there's no reason I can't have the surgery.  She knew of Dr. Kim and the work at Celebrations.  Asked if my insurance would cover the procedure and when I said that mine wouldn't, she asked how much it was going to cost.  She never did say what she thought about WLS but then I never asked her, I guess I should of :)

I faxed the clearance to Dr. Kim's office and then called them to tell them that I had.  They said they couldn't schedule the surgery until after I have their EKG and chest xray, which I have scheduled for Wed., July 11th.
