*Surgeon consult date, probably 2-3 weeks away from Friday.
My guess May 18th
Actual May 3rd
*Insurance approval figuring 2 weeks.
My guess June 1st
Actual (was done long ago)
They had to get prior authorization when I started.
*Surgery date-At nurses appt, said he runs booked for about 6 weeks.
Which brings me to a surgery date of......
My guess July 13th.

Well, I met with Dr. Rupp and his nurse Terry today and they are AWESOME! Both were very personable and fun. Went through everything I need to know and even joked around when I asked what reasons the surgery might not happen, he said some rare occurances and then...."Oh, and if there is a terrorist attack on the hospital." :-D
According to the time line I had figured out a few days ago; I figured surgery would be approximately July 13th. I was wrong!
I have been SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 18TH! OMG! WOW!
He wants me to lose about 15-20 lbs before surgery that I gained when I quit smoking.
I still can't believe it. Thank you LORD! ....Miracles really do happen!

Okay....so I received the letter today from the surgeons office with the Surgeon consult date on it. Now keep in mind that yesterday I estimated it would take place around May 18. Well, my timeline was off a bit.
It's scheduled for May 3rd.....WOW! My eyes bout popped right out of my head! LOL
I'm suppose to have a crown put in on that day, but I think I'll reschedule that appointment. Started this in September...not going to tell them no to any dates they setup.
Very Very good night!
Take care and will post soon!

*This was something I posted to a friend in a forum on 4/25*
Well, here's the timeline I'm looking at, let's see how close I come to the dates below.
*Surgeon consult date, probably 2-3 weeks away from Friday.
My guess May 18th
*Insurance approval figuring 2 weeks.
My guess June 1st
*Surgery date-At nurses appt, said he runs booked for about 6 weeks.

My guess July 13th.
Any of these times could be less or MORE, but I'm thinking this is pretty realistic. If they take less, then I will be thrilled, but I'm figuring this is a worse case scenario, so if it takes this amount of time, I won't be disappointed.
Can't dwell on it too much....do know I need to try and walk some before hand and not think about the pain. Do know I need to start eating like a should ALL the time, not just most of the time.

I called Ginger today at my surgeons office to confirm whether they had received the dieticians report and they had! Wooooo Hooooo!
Now the nurses go over the psychologists report and I should be getting something in the mail by Friday with my surgeon consult date and once he approves me for the surgery, it's sent to my insurance and a date is set.
I'm getting there.....I'll be a loser yet! *S*

Okay, so today was better. I talked with Ginger at St. Paul Surgeons yesterday and it's not going to cost me almost $2000. I have an out of pocket on my insurance of $1500. So, that means that what I've paid out of pocket so far in co-pays, etc. can be deducted from that amount....it isn't much, but it helps. Happy, happy, happy, joy, joy, joy!
And today, I got a message from the dietician that the report will be faxed to St. Paul Surgeons today or Monday. hehehehehe That was GREAT news....that's the last part before getting the face to face consult with Dr. Rupp. Then *crosses fingers* approval! I will be approved, I will be approved, I will be approved. Okay....positive thinking . Yeah!
Okay....I'll update soon!

Okay....so I was going looking at my insurance website today and noticed that they have changed the hospital I'm going to have the WLS done at to a Level 2 now. GRRRRR That means I'll have to come up with more money. It's going to cost me almost $2000 when I was thinking I would only have a $250 co-pay.
I've gone through the almost all of the process now and I really don't want to have to start over from the beginning. I decided to look at other hospitals in the area that do the surgery and none of them are a Level 1. Unbelievable! I guess that's good news though, I won't be starting from scratch, I'll just have to find the money. Tax refund was already earmarked for a new shingles and a fenced in yard. Maybe the shingles will be okay one more year. Hmmmm.
Oh well, enough of my whining....Sheesh....this really isn't that bad. I've had horrible insurance...this is GREAT. Just keep telling myself that. *S*

Well, I met with the dietician yesterday and she said I am definately ready for the surgery. She was impressed that I've been taking the steps I will need to be doing after the surgery. Not drinking a half hour before or after eating, protein first, very small bites, chew, chew, chew, etc. She's sending her paperwork in right away so hopefully it will get to insurance very soon to approve. And again.....hopefully, they will approve it immediately. Lord, I'm leaving it in your hands. All I can do now is wait. Whew....a long time in the waiting hopefully soon to be losing. I'd love to be a loser. *S*
