All my life I have struggled with my weight. I was put on my first diet at the tender age of 5 years. Hard to believe, but true. I weighed in at 79 lbs. By the time I graduated high School, I weighed in at around 275 lbs. And about a year after graduation I weighed about 315 lbs. I tried many, many diets over the years with little success. My weight problem is partly bad choices, and partly genetics. Alot of the people in my family are overweight, but most were not heavy as a child. Just me. So I just made up my mind that it was time to make some changes.
I decided that gastric Bypass is the best option for me about a year ago, but was too afraid to begin the process. I decided to go to another seminar, just to hear the information again, and maybe to calm some of my fears. I had already looked up every bit of information I possibly could on the internet.
A couple of weeks after I went to that seminar, I went to my initial consultation at the Bariatric Care Center at City Hospital. I was weighed, measured, and had pics taken of me (that was really embarresssing lol). I was given so much information that my head was just spinning. I met with the surgeon who will perform my surgery, and oversee my progress. Even now, after being poked, prodded, and having had an Upper GI (WOW! Did that ever suck!), I still have doubts. With all that said, I'm going forward, and I do think this is going to change my life for the better. I'll update as the days go by. Wish me luck!
