Hi my name is Melissa. I am a nurse from Louisiana. I had lap banding on September 1, 2006. At that time I weighed 224.5 lbs. and had a bmi of 40.9. I was researching obesity online one night at work, because my insurance didn't cover bariatric surgery. It didn't believe that obesity is a disease. They felt it was a choice, and that I had a choice in my weight. I was searching for statistics, when I went to a web site called Obesity goodbye.com. I answered the questions that were asked so I could get the info. I was looking for. Then I submitted it. A few days later, a lady from Baton Rouge, Louisiana called me. I was on my way to work, when she reached me on my cell phone. She told me about the clinic, and that it was very cheap. I spoke to her a few mor times after that, and I ended up going to Mexico two weeks later. I went with her and 5 other women that were having lap bands done. Little did I know that I was getting the phone call that would be the start of a new life for me. Now I am working with the doctors and the ladies in Baton Rouge, and we take anyone who wants to start a new life to Mexico. The doctors are wonderful. I also bring patients there who want to have cosmetic surgery. The hospital is exceptionally clean, and the staff are very concous of sterility in the OR. I have been in the OR during surgery and I can't explain how maticulous they are about cleanliness.  As a nurse from the US, I feel it necessary to clear the misunderstanding about it being dirty. I am sure there are some areas that are dirty, but the hospital that I bring patients to is so clean, that you can see the reflection of the ceiling in the floor. There is always someone mopping or cleaning there. Please feel free to contact me by e-mail or by phone if you have any questions.

My e-mail address is: [email protected] and my cell phone number is: 985-209-5786

Hope to hear from you soon!
