ONE MONTH POST-OP -- September 25, 2007
Sep 25, 2007
Where to start. I have been told to journal everything of my journey -- but this last month has flown by and I haven't written a thing. Not getting down on myself -- just wondering where the time has gone.
I had my surgery on August 28th -- all went very well. Well -- I was tremendously worried about my anesthesiologist -- he was fantastic -- Dr. O'Leary -- great sense of humor -- put me at ease immediately -- as he wheeled me into surgical room -- the assistant surgeon asked if I was "Nancy Timpanaro-Hogan", I said yes, and he said he had seen me in both "Divalicious" Benefits I had done for Albany Medical Center -- (I am a singer/commediene) and I was sensational." Well that broke the ice -- everything then broke into much more levity and I felt like a person instead of another body on the table. I don't remember much after getting the epidermal -- they asked to move onto this tiny table -- and the next thing I know I was waking up in the recovery room.
The next couple of days were miserable -- pain filled, they had a problem controlling my pain -- and also developed a UTI from the catheter. Couldn't wait to get out of the hospital. Dr. Rosati was GREAT. Stopped by every morning to check on me -- and there was also this remarkable young medical student -- Eric -- who I will never forget -- quite compassionate and very loving -- came to see me every morning at 5AM. Hospitals are so wierd you lose all track of time -- finally got a chance to get out of there on the fourth day -- so I took total advantage --
More to follow -- the crux is it's a month out and I have lost 41 pounds. But I want to continue my experience so as not to forgot. More later...
