"My initial consult was mostly done by a young doctor in Dr. Kahlili's office. Dr. Kahlili spent a few minutes afterwards talking with me. He seemed friendly and caring. However, I was a bit disappointed that he didn't meet with me again during the pre-surgery consult (one week before surgery). On the day of my surgery, I saw him for about 30 seconds before the surgery. It was supposed to Dr. Khalili performing my surgery with Dr. Scott Cuneen assisting (at least, that's what I was told). I did not see him again that day or any days I was in the hospital (my surgery was on a Friday and I was discharged on a Sunday). I know that there is a mixed opinion on his "bedside manner" but the truth is that I wasn't really exposed to it to know one way or the other.
On the other hand, he did make a point of coming out after the surgery and personally talking to my wife about how well it went.
To me, surgical competence is far, far more important than a great bedside manner. From what I've heard, this is the surgeon you want and given the fact that I felt virtually no pain by the day of discharge, I feel pretty comfortable that he did a great job.
His office staff, especially Peggy, are helpful. Peggy is great: very friendly, sweet and caring and a fantastic sense of humor.
Aftercare is strongly emphasized with a one week follow-up appointment, a one-month follow up and then every three months afterwards for one year.
In sum, this is the surgeon and the office staff you want to do the job."
