Hi! My name is Shanickiau, I am 28. My weight has been a constant battle every since I was little and it seems like the problem only got worse when I got older. I have tried all of the diets I had success with a few. However, November of 2006, I was diagnosed with having Multiple Sclerosis or MS. That was a life-changing event for me and shortly after that, my weight battle did not get any better. I was put on IV steroids for treatment purposes. Well after those days of treatment, I was constantly eating. In July of 2007, I decided enough was enough and I have to do something more about my weight. So I went to my first seminar and I loved the doctor, However, I had a problem with some of his practices. So I attend another seminar (actually they emailed me with a video clip) and I liked the people and surgeon. Well, there was a problem with my insurance and I would have to weight. I said okay, but I was still optimistic at this point and said well one our local news newscaster went through the gastric bypass, so I went to see that surgeon. I went to that surgeon, very nice people again….Well lord and behold the surgeon tells me that my insurance doesn’t pay enough and they would prefer for me to pay for everything out of pocket. Okay, that is a lot of money….Not to mention my insurance pays 90 percent of my medical bills leaving me to pay only 10 percent. So, he tells me to just go home and think about it. Well, I left there in tears just balling and eventually I gave up. Until, on January 15, 2008 I got an call from the bariatric coordinator for Dr. Holsaeter’s office and my insurance paperwork finally came through and I was clear to have surgery.

and Now I am beginning my true journey!!!!!
