Hello All,
I am now 3 1/2 weeks out from surgery and honestly, I'm feeling pretty good. I went to my first support group meeting and found out a few tips on things such as calcium and vitamins aren't supposed to be taken at the same time!! Who knew? Then I found out that I'm pretty lucky because I've been able to eat solid foods since I was at 2 weeks out. I haven't started exercising yet but that will definitely start next week. I've been walking and being active in general but I had this reoccurring pain in my left side that burned like the devil so I wasn't gonna do ANYTHING to irritate that. It feels 95% better now so I feel like I'm ready for the exercise. I've still got a problem trying to get the water in. Seems like I have to be CONSTANTLY drinking to get the proper amount of water in. I have a few problem areas with dry peeling skin. Around my lower abdomen and on the top part of my behind. It's weird, the skin in these areas is completely different than the rest of my body. I think (at least I'm hoping) that if I drink enough water, that will help with the dry skin. My weight loss thus far is only like 19 lbs. so I'm a little discouraged about that but I'm pressing forward. I was told at our support group meeting not to worry too much about the amount of calories I'm taking in but to concentrate more on the vitamins and protein. It's weird because its a real chore to get 3 meals in everyday. I'm just not that hungry. Hopefully when I start exercising and concentrating on the water thing, I will see more results. I'm not trying to rush it, I just want to see some of the fruits of my labor. I can see a bunch of inches lost but since I really only wore sweat pants and elastic waist pants, I don't know what size I actually wear. I'm not sure how the advance in weight loss and needing new clothes is gonna go. I'm not a person who can afford to continually purchase new items and I haven't purchased anything new since the surgery...so I guess I'll be wearing some baggy clothes along the way. I really don't mind because this is for me. I haven't actually had an episode of dumping because I won't eat anything sweet (lol). I don't like being sick so that's enough of a reason for me to avoid it. I have thrown up a few times from either overeating or eating too fast. That is an awful feeling but at least there is no nausea associated with it. It's more like a stifling suffocating feeling that immediately goes away when the food comes up. Well I will continually check back and keep the site updated.
So far so good!!!
