The First Step is the Hardest

Jun 01, 2007

I received a phone call from my PCP's office.  He is providing me with a letter to, hopefully, convince my insurance company that the surgery is definitely NOT cosmetic but rather medically necessary.  It was really difficult going to his office and asking him for support.  I feel like such a failure because I keep my weight down.  He's a good guy, though.  He didn't even blink.  Just took my sample letter and said that he thought I'd made a good decision.  Then I had to talk with my husband.  Boy was I frightened!  What if he said, "NO WAY"?  How would I convince him I was serious?  This is the man that has seen me buy multiple pieces of exercise equipment, join health clubs, eat diet food only to backslide into the same old habits.  Would he give me this last chance to commit to a healthy life?  He did.  I knew I made the right choice marrying that man 33 years ago (6/9/74)!  So that first step, hard as it was, has been taken.  I've found me a support group here.  My "education" has begun and I can't wait for school to start tomorrow!
