Almost 4 mos. post op
Jan 06, 2009
I have been feeling really well for the most part. I haven't had full-on dumping syndrome...I don't think. I've accidently taken a bite or two too much or maybe ate too fast and had a lot of pain and nausea which lasts about 15 minutes or so. I'm learning to listen to my body. Seems cliche, but there is truth to it. If I'm chewing and suddenly I feel like I just don't feel like chewing or swallowing anymore, it means "spit it out, your full". Learned the hard way not to ignore that. I have not had any vomiting, although when I ate too much, I wish I could vomit and relieve the pain. Instead I have to wait it out.
I'm very careful to weigh and measure all food items. It's been very helpful in not accidently overfilling my pouch. My weight loss has been pretty steady and I am very happy with it. Every so often I hit a plateau, but then I reevaluate my food items and make adjustments. At one point, I was eating too many multigrain crackers. I cut back and it seems to do the job.
A little over 3 mos. post op, I did start losing hair. I was hoping it wouldn't happen since my protein levels in my blood were very good. But I am having some. It's not horrible, but a little scary. The nutritionist and nurse said to make sure I'm getting in proper amounts of protein and it will be kept at a minimum most likely. I've been taking Biotin (I have the capsule and I open it an pour into my pudding - it has no taste) to at least keep my hair healthy. It may not prevent it from falling out, but I take it just in case.
Only complaint I really have is that my libido is very very low. It was much better preop, so I don't know why it's suddenly gone. And I mean GONE. It's not an image issue. My husband loves how my new body feels and has never made me feel self-conscience about the stretchmarks or anything and I can deal with it. So I don't know what's going on and hope I can find an answer soon....sigh.

My 2 month followup
Nov 14, 2008
It was so exciting today. I went for my 2 month follow up with the weight specialists affiliated with my surgeon. They were very impressed with my weight loss and how well my blood tests looked. My cholesterol levels went down dramatically, iron, proteins, and calcium all in good limits.
