7-11-04
My surgery date is December 15, 2004. I really want the surgery, so the quality of my life can be improved. I am nervous about the negative aspects from the surgery. When I start to get nervous I read some of the profiles, this helps alot. I feel the same as some of the people on this site and thats comforting to know I'm not alone in this. I too have tried every diet out there and lost but ALWAYS regained what I lost plus some. I am looking forward to being on the other side, and being a "LOSER"!

7-17-04
I am getting excited about my surgery. I am counting down the months to go. I am getting ready for a lifestyle change. I have been off sugar since June 28th. I have had some weak moments but have not given into the temptations. I have lost seven pounds just from eliminating the sugar from my diet. I also have started to walk, and swim in our pool for some exercise. So much for using the pool for exercise. It has rained so much I only went swimming about ten times.

8-15-04
Four months till surgery. It is going by fast. I feel very confident with my decision to have WLS. I have all the arrangements with school and work finalized. I am talking about the surgery more and feel at ease. I have started to save for the $1800.00 that will be an out of pocket expense for the entire WLS procedure. My boyfriend is even getting excited about the surgery. He is taking off from work and will be staying in my hospital room for the time I'm there. I wouldn't have that any other way. I am going through my closets and organizing my clothes, and I realized I have sizes from 24/26 to 9/10. I won't be buying anything until I am below 9/10! Congrats to all on your surgery dates!! Take care.

9-13-04
Three months till surgery. I am getting to the point that I want the surgery yesterday. Sometimes my patience are thin and other times I have alot of patience. I have recieved some more e-mail and just wanted to say thanks and I like getting mail...it's very encouraging. Take care, I am off to school.

9-28-2004
I am amazed at how fast time is flying by. I can't believe surgery is 2 1/2 months away. I still need to save about $800.00 dollars. I can't concentrate on school because my mind is consumed with thoughts about surgery and how my life will change for the better(God willing). Thanks for all the encouragement!! Take care.

10-01-2004
Time is flying by and my day to shine is getting closer. I have almost got all the money needed for surgery. I have enjoyed reading the profiles on here...very encouraging for me. I hope I am one of those who lose 100 lbs.in 6months. I plan on working out and staying low carb...Some of the profiles here mention low carb and lost alot of weight. Thanks for the emails....Love them. Congrats to all with dates. Chow for now!

I can't express the wide range of emotions I am going through. I can be happy one miniute and be worried something will go wrong the next minute. I know I am in good hands with Dr. Clark. I had a dream a few nights ago about the hospital running out of pain meds...I know that is not possible and have never heard of this in the 10 years I've been in the medical field. I am going to the three hour class on November 17th, and will get my scripts for my pre-op testing then. I have had my pap and my ekg already. The pap was normal but the ekg was borderline abnormal, so I will find out on the 17th if I have to do a stress test or an echo. I can't wait to get my book on the expected changes for each day. I have visited with several people that have already had the surgery and they have come through it just fine. I am also amazed at how good their doing and how well they can ambulate. I have already started getting my vitamins, which are shaklee chewables. I have started getting different protien drinks for after my surgery....just in case I don't like one of the brands I will have another to try. Several people from the support group have said their taste buds are not the same as before. I have all my money for surgery saved now and can concentrate on Christmas...will have to do this early because my date is December 15th and I really don't think I will be up for the crowds. Congrats to all with your dates!! Chow for now!

11-10-2004
I have my three hour class on the 17th. I am getting very excited about my surgery. I am doing very well in school...all A's this semester. I have seven more classes to take until I'm finished with my BSBA degree....YEAH!!!!! I plan on finishing school in December 2005. What better gift can I give myself for the new year than the gift of health. We went to the Parade of homes this past weekend and I was wheezing because of my asthma...I thought I was going to have a full blown attack, but did not!(Thank God) My feet, ankles, back, and knees were throbbing by the end of the three hour tour. I am so out of shape for a 38 year old...I felt like I was 80 years old. Well I am off to school, until next week. Chow for now!

11-20-2004
Went to my three hour class on the 17th. It was very long. I got a book that tells me everything that I can expect and has alot of helpful Ideas for recipes. Directions for my wonderful prep. I got lots of samples for the liquid part of my diet. I am having my pre-admission testing done on the 26th. I am currently recovering from bronchitis and hope the medication will not interfer with my test results. I can't explain the calm I have about the surgery. Three years ago I was planning on having the surgery with the surgeons of norfolk and had a bad feeling about it and did not go through with it. I am very confident with my choice of having Dr. Clark perform my surgery. Every where I turn these days there is a mirade of support for me and my decision. I will let you guys know how my testing turns out. Chow for now!

11-26-2004
Had my chest xray and lab work done today. The nurse had to stick me twice...not happy about that! I have to go back for another blood test, since I'm latex sensitive. The doc was out of town for the holiday and they couldn't get and order. I hope I get someone different for that blood test! I go for my pre-op appointment on 12/7 and will update more then. Chow for now!

12-07-2004
I had my per-op appointment today and everything is a go! I am excited and nervous. I have eight more days to go...YEAH!!!

12-14-2004
Went to see the surgeon on the 7th and was cleared for surgery. I am doing my fleets tonight and surgery is at 10:00am tomorrow. I am ready to get this over with!!! I will post when I can after surgery. My next post I will be a LOSER!!! I have been waiting so long to change my status to post-op. Chow for now!!!

12-18-2004
I am home from the hospital and am very sore. Will update later when I am feeling better.

12-20-2004
I am feeling better. I will recap the hospital stay. Don't remember much from the day of surgery just that I was telling the recovery nurse I am in pain three times...then I woke up in my room. The morphine did not work for me so they switched me to delodid and that was great. I weighed 322 after the stay at the hospital...I guess its all the meds and fluids. I had one really bad nurse that I reported to the nursing supervisor, the rest were wonderful.

1-01-2005
I can't believe its a new year. I have alot of goals that will be complete in this year. I have gained 2 lbs. Is this possible? I am eating what the doc tells me. I can't gain now...I'm just getting started. I have my 1 month F/U on the 25th.

01-25-05
Had my 1 month f/u and I've lost 32.5 lbs. It's really my 5 wk f/u. I got different meds for the acid in my pouch...something stronger. I am still tired but it is getting better. My clothes are falling off me...size 26/24. I bought a size 22 in jeans and they are already loose but still wearable. Till next month.

2-24-05
Had my 2 month f/u. I've lost 44.5 lbs. so far. I got some new medicine for nausea...hope it helps. I have not been working out much and Dr. C said in order to lose more weight I have to exercise. I really wanted to lose 52lbs total by the end of feb. Theres always next month. Chow for now!

3-15-05
Well hear it is March and I'm down 51.5 lbs so far. Its getting better with the nausea and vomiting. I am able to eat more food so my weight loss is dropping faster. I go see Dr. Clark next thursday the 24th. I wanted to drop another 5 lbs by then. I have also increased my exercise and it's finally starting to get easier for me....I am getting energized by working out. I hope the fatigue stage is over. From my hips up I have lost 36.5 inches and my clothes are falling off. I am down to a 20 and thats big on me....I guess I need to get some new clothes...darn! Chow for now!

4-15-05
I have lost 61 lbs to date. I am 4 months post-op. I was hoping for more but I guess some is better than none....as long as it's going in the right direction. Chow for now!

5-15-05
I have lost 72 lbs so far. I am 5 months post-op. I am feeling better and it's getting easier to eat and drink my requirements. I am slacking on my vitamins and will step it up. The exercise thing is also slack....can't seem to get motivated. I will have to work on that cause I'm approaching the six month mark and it slows down after that. Chow for now!

6-15-05
I have lost 81 lbs. since surgery. I am 6 months post-op. I feel better and have more energy. I hired a personal trainer twice a week to give me the extra push. I am almost to the century club!!!! Chow for now!

7-15-05
The weight loss is slowing down. I am 7 months post-op and have lost 94 lbs. I can't wait till I get to the century club and then to onederland. Chow for now!!

8-25-05
I broke a three week plateau. I was starting to wonder if I was finished. I want to get to my goal of 150. I finally hit the century club and have lost 102 lbs. I am very pleased so far. I have my 9 month follow up in september....already nine months. I still can't eat real sweet things, greasy things, and any thing with artificial sweetners. I have tried and I've gotten sick, so I am pleased I can't eat that stuff. I've heard others say they can eat any thing around the six month mark. Until next month...Chow for now!

9-23-05
I have been very busy with my last semester of school and didn't make time to update my profile, so please forgive me. On 09/17/05 Craig and I got engaged. We aren't setting a date until 12/15/05 when I'm walking across the stage to get my degree!! I have lost 108 lbs. and feel great. I still can't eat sweets or high fatty foods, but thats okay! Well thats all for now so chow!!

10-15-05
Finally getting closer to onederland!!!!

11-19-05
I am finally in onederland!!!! I am 11 months post-op. I am almost finished with school...December 16th I will take my last final exam. We are moving to Denver after school is finished I am so looking forward to the healthy lifestyle they live out there. Lots of free activities, and white water rafting, which is my favorite hobby. Chow for now.

4-17-06
It's been a while since I have updated my profile. I am down to 170 and almost to my goal. I am wearing size 9/10 and there a little loose on me. My goal was to get to 7/8. I have been working out hard and have very little loose skin. I am thankful for that. I am seeking employment in my new field....its been hard re-locating and finding employment. I am sending a new pic in to be posted. Take care....

7-7-06
Okay....these last 20 lbs are the hardest to lose. I am still not able to eat most sweets but I can eat some carbs. Thats where the last 20 lbs is difficult. I have decided to cut back a little on those fun foods and eat more fruits and veggies. I tried ice cream on the 4th and threw it right back up....I haven't had ice cream since before my surgery. I guess thats a good sign...one less thing I have to eat. I am just now able to eat ground beef, some chicken, and still can't do dairy products. I wanted to be in a 7/8 by now....whats up with that!! I have been slacking on the exercise...I was doing it twice a day...thats even hard for me to read. Well gotta go....Chow for now!!

9-25-06
Started Bio-Identical hormones because my testosterone and progesterone were low from the rapid weight loss. I have been on them for 2 weeks and started to lose again. I can see me reaching my goal of 140-150. My BMI is now normal. I am lower than the lowest weight I remember...I never thought I would see that. I am going to post another pic when I reach my goal. The outfit I am wearing with the white jeans is now to big for me.

10-03-06
I went shopping this past weekend and bought a size 6 in jeans....I was happy that I got into 7/8 but this blew me away.

08-13-07
Okay...so I have been slack with keeping my profile up to date. I weighed in this AM and I was 158 3/4 lbs. I have 13 more lbs to lose to get to my goal and I am almost 3 years out. It's been hard to go back to eating mostly protein but it does work. This is what I am currently eating: Protein at every meal, 2 fruits, 4 veggies, 1 slice of whole wheat, 80-90 oz. of water daily, and walk every day. I cut out sugar, lunch meat, and white stuff. I am hoping to get to goal by the end of September. I will keep everyone posted on my progress. Oh yeah...my size 6 jeans are now baggy on me. I am adding another pic soon. Chow for now!!

08-22-07
I am almost to my goal of 145. I am thinking of lowering my goal to 140 and will see how my body responds to getting this low. I feel energized again. I will keep you posted on my progress.

09-04-07
I am down to 155 and have 15lbs. to goal. I have been exercising 6 days a week. I have been writing every thing down that I eat. I have set a time frame of the end of October to get to goal. Till next time.

10-17-07
I am down to 151 and have only 11lbs to goal. Man is it hard work when you get close to goal. It's just going slowwwwww. I am not giving up on my goal and how ever long it takes, then thats what it will take for my body. I can't remember when I weighted in at this weight. My size 6 is gettin loose....so you know what that means....more shopping for new stuff!!!!

10-23-07
Okay my weight is at 150 and still going down. I am a little frustrated that it's not going faster. I would like to be at 145 by thanksgiving.....I'm hanging in.

11-12-07
I am weighing in at 142. I am very happy to get to my goal before Thanksgiving. I am going shopping to see if I can wear a size 4. I would have never thought I would get this far. I feel great. I would like for my weight to naturally balance between 140-145. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday....oh yeah, did I mention omegas are a wonderful pill for decreasing inches.

12-11-07
I have been shopping and have bought several size 4 jeans and dess slacks. I am so surprised with the inch loss. I have not had plastic surgery yet. I am giving the omegas a chance to work as much as possible so maybe I might not need surgery for my tummy. I take high doses of Omega 3 and 6. I am so glad I found this out....what a relief.

12-17-07
I have decided to change my goal weight to 135-140 #'s.  I am starting Jan. 1, 2008.
