Hi Mary, I am in a similar situatuion. I have BC/BS PPO in PA. My policy also states that it is excluded, but I have talked to my company admisistrator and staff from BC/BS. They told me that once the request comes in they send it to a team of doctors to review it for medical relevance. if they agree that it is medically necessary, they will then cover it. They also told me to be prepared that I may be denied the first time it goes through and I may have to resubmitt. If you have other co-morbidities, that may help your case, so make sure you include that in the communications with your insurance providers. Best of luck. - you can email me if I can help you with any other questions, Chelle [email protected]

Mary, I too have the exclusion in my policy. however if it is medicall necessary they will cover it. Did the company read the whole exclusion to you. Mine reads that and at the end it reads unless medically necessary. Hopefully this will help. I also know that when it is medically necessary it depends on how your surgeon words the letter as to if the fight it or not. They approved me after the first letter. Best of luck. Keep in touch...Deb S
