I've been heavy all my life. Since I had my babies (starting 24 years ago) I've been morbidly obese. Struggling every year to lose weigh only to gain it back +. The usual story. In the last 3 years I have had foot surgery, knee surgery, gout and have arthritis in my knee. Surfice to say, I haven't moved much in the last few years. So not only am I at my top weight, but sooo out of shape.
I have though about WLS in the past (fleetingly) but it was not until I had a conversation with my mother about a meeting that she and my sister attended. It got me thinking about WLS very seriously, so I did alot of research online. I have been to a class with a Bariatric Nurse. I have an appointment with my regular doctor and need to make additional appointments for pre-op procedures. I haven't seen the surgeon yet, but I think I know which surgey I want. I have the support of my husband. My kids are scared but they want to see mom healthy and live long enough to see my grandbabies (in the far away future).
I just want to be able to take a walk with my husband, shop with my girls, and all in all enjoy an active life again. A few of my goals are:
Walk without pain in my feet and knees
To be able to go to Disney World at least once in my life.
Sit in the movie theater without squising into the seats
Sit on the airplane and not pushing up against my neighbor
Run up a flight of stairs
Be proud of who I see in the mirror
My journey begins..........
