Ihad my upper GI today. I think that my pouch is still ok. It looked good on the screen to me. The radiologist would not say for sure. He said he would send a report to my Dr. I go on Monday for my endoscopy. I will know for sure on that day.

I have not been on here for years. In December of 2005 I had to have emergency surgery for a blockage from adhesions. They tried to do lap, but ended up having to open me back up. At least they cut in the same place that they cut me on my bypass surgery. The recovery was not as bad. I was only out of work for 4 weeks. I had the stupid g-tube for 3 months. It was awful. They thought something was wrong with the old part of my stomach so they wanted to keep it in until they make sure it was ok. Turns out it was only scar tissue.
I have gained some of my weight back and I have been having problems. I am getting sick to my stomach and everything gets stuck. It has been getting worse as time passes. I went to the Dr. last week and they are thinking that I may need a revision. They also think that the band around my esophagus is imbedded causing my esophagus to be narrowed.
So things are a little depressing right now. I hope that the Dr. is wrong. I have an upper GI Thursday and an Endoscope procedure on Monday. I should know then what is going on.
I am trying to find people on here that are having similar issues, but I have not had any luck yet.
2-23-04 Next month will be 18 months out of surgery. I have lost 175 pounds. I can't imagine how I lived at 365 pounds. I am so happy now. I can do anything I want to do now. Things are going OK with medical issues. I was having stomach pains but they have been gone for several months now. I still have problems with food getting stick which makes me throw up but I just have to remember to chew chew chew! My weight loss has slowed down and I think I may have lost about all I will lose. I am trying to exercise more but I just can't get in the swing of it. I have some bladder issues when I jump around too much. I am going to talk to the doctor about it soon. I wonder if it is the excess skin putting pressure on my bladder? I am getting married in September. I am very lucky to have found my perfect guy before my weight loss. He is so special he loved me the way I was and still loves the new me.
6-24-03 It has been 10 months since my surgery. I am a brand new person. I have lost 50 more punds. That bring my total to 150 pounds in 10 months. The weight loss has slowed down a lot but I am still happy with what I am loosing. I went to Carowinds in NC it is like Six Flags. I was able to ride every ride there. It was great. I have not rode a roller coaster since I was 14.
1-20-03 Again I have not updated in along time. Things have been going well. I am 5 months post op now and have lost 100 pounds !!!!!! I feel great now. I went to the Tennesse aquarium last weekend and I walked the entire aquarium and didn't sit down once. I was pain free the whole time :-) I have long way to go but I am on my way now. It feels great to buy smaller clothes.
10-20-02 I have not updated in a while. I had surgery on 8-20-02. The surgery went well but I experienced some complications after the surgery. I had a blockage which caused me to vomit bile. Not a fun experience. I was very scared that all that came out of me !! I was in the hospital 6 nights. The nurses were horrible. I could not express more how important it is to have someone there with you at all times. Due to my blockage I was not able to drink anything by mouth only ice chips for 3 weeks. Then once the Dr. said it was ok to move to the liquid diet I could not swallow. I also started vomiting several times a day. This caused my throat the be very swelled up causing the swallowing problems. I had an Endoscopy to see what was going on and to have my throat streched. This was not a success it was to swelled to get in with the instruments. So the following week they scheduled another one to be done in the hospital with pediatric instruments and to use a balloon to widen things out. This one was also not a success. In the mean time I had stoped the vomiting and things started improving on their own. I am still not released to eat anything yet so I am way behind on my puree stage but I hope to get the ok tomorrow to eat. I had lost 60 pounds by my 7th week out. I am happy I have done this it has just been a tough road. But in the long run it will be worth it. I have had so many compliments. I can tell a big change already in my clothes.
7-29-02 I was told today I have a date !!!!!! 8-20-02 :-) :-)
This is going so fast now. I am so ready for this. I can't wait. Of course I am scared but I will make it fine.
7-26-02 I had my appointment today with Dr. Appel. I was in his office from 12:45 until 7:15 but it was worth the wait. I am now ready to have the surgery just waiting on a date.
7-16-02 I went today and had my tests done. I am getting excited now :-) my appointment with Dr. Appel to sign consents is on 7-26-02
7-3-02 I was approved !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to have a meeting with the Insurance company and pour m heart out but it worked. :-)
4-13-02 Still not much going on. I have gotten one denial. I am working on it though. I am having two of my doctors write letters to insurance company. I hope that will help things along. I have been told my insurance Cigna is just about dening everyone the first try and wait for the person to fight it. I don't really think they won't approve me. Just not wanting to wait for all the run arounds they want you to deal with. It has been tough lately I am so ready to start having a healthier life. It seems right now everything that I am dealing with pain wise would be solved if I were not so overweight. I hate more then anything to go to the doctor and the end of the visit be there is nothing that can help me but weightloss.
2-22-02 Not much to report yet. My psyc appointment went fine much to everyones opinion I am not crazy. I did find out my Insurance is going through some problems with thier contracts with the hospitals but I hope they will resolve it soon. It will set me back a few weeks for the approval :-( They had to send my paperwork to another office. But I hope to know something in a few weeks :-)
1-11-02 I had my inital consultation yesterday. I found out all the steps I will need to take. I did find out that they have had good luck in the past with my insurance :-) Right now I have to fill out some paperwork. Go to the Psychologist.Then they will submit that to the insurance for approval. After I have my approval I will start getting my tests done.
I am a 29 year old mother. I have so may things I would love to do and can't. I have been reading so much information on the site and can't wait to start having things to share with everyone. I Have gotten a date for my first appointment. It is not until 1-10-02 but I can't wait to get this process started.
