UPDATE
Jul 23, 2007
July 23,2007
Hi everybody, just a quick update. I'm hovering around130-135 pounds, still eating like a pig, (this DS rocks) and feeling so great! I'm reconciled with m y hubby and back home, and staying busy babysitting the grandkids. Wish I could get some plastics for this hanging skin and no boob problem, but it's not financially in the cards for me. So be it, I look good in clothes, so I can deal with it. That's all for now, time to run and play, something I didn't want to do before the DS. Good Luck to all who are pursuing this surgery, and if your looking for a top notch surgeon, call Dr Peter's in Peckville, P.A., He's absolutly the best!

mY ds STORY
Jan 31, 2007
wMarch 27, 2004 5'8,275 lbs,48 years old, tired of being fat, and inactive because of it. Well, I had my first appt with my PCP, and she is behind me all the way.ay. Ive already had my first appt with the nutritionist, and I have appt's set up for a sleep study, to check fore sleep apnea. Also I was given my referral to my bariatric surgeon, Dr Richard Peter's! Woo hoo, I'm on my way!!!!! I have an appt with him at the end of april! I should be ready to have my surgery by the end of August, or the beginning of September. Please, Please, Please let my insurance company say yes!!!!!!!!
OK, Ive met with my Doc three times now, and I love him to pieces! His personality is very down to earth, yet he's got tons of exp, so I'm very comfortable with him!!!! Ive had my sleep study and I do have sleep apnea, so back I go for a cpap study. Another night I get to sleep over at CMC. No biggie, and with the cpap machine, I should have much better sleep. I'm still seeing my nutritionist, Lori, at CMC, and I have to see her until the beginning of Sept. She's really nice and know's it all when it comes to what I can and can't eat after surgery. I have to keep a diary of what I eat everyday, and I find myself eating everything I want, in anticipation of not being able to after surgery! She says that's normal, so I have to believe that! I feel like a naughty child when I do it! That's all that's new for now, everybody say prayers for me!!!!!!
Big news!!!!!!! Ive been aspproved and I have a date!!!!!! WooHoo!!!!!! My date is October 26, so look out other side, I'm comming!!!!!!This has been a long ride, and all of a sudden it's here, and I almost can't believe it!!!!! Seems I have to see the pulmonologist for an evaluation because my breathing isn't the best, so everybody keep your fingers crossed (one hand only) that he says go ahead!!!!!!See ya on the other side!!!!!
Hi, as you prob all ready know, surgery is tommorrow morning!!!! WOO HOO!!!!! I'm going between being a wreck and crying to happy and excited! See ya all on the other side!!!!
Well, it's been awhile, I'm five weeks post-op, down about 30 pounds. The surgery was not to eventful, Doc Peter's did a wonderful job, as usual! I had surgery on Tuesday, and went home on Sat. Each day get's better and better, and for anybody getting ready to have surgery, the best thing to do for your self is to walk, walk, walk after surgery! I was one of the fortunate ones that was able to sleep in bed when I went home(thanks to a case of night terrors the first night home) I crawled in bed with my husband and dynamite wasnt gonna move me!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!! I'm one of those lucky people that painkillers hyper me up instead of knock me out, so after 3 days of no sleep at the hospital, when I started to snooze, it caused night terrors the first night!
My husband was and has been great,I love you Jay, along with my son Ryan!!!!! Yes, you will prob need someone to wipe your butt for the first week, thanks honey, but when he's not home, the old wodden spoon works well!. Now, onto more plesant matters, I can now eat anything, just not much of it! I eat my protien first, and that usually fills me totally up, but I do have fruit sometimes as a snack. I'm not getting all my water in yet, but I get close! Here's a good tip for you, I drink an instant breakfast mixed with carb countdown, and it's way cheaper then a protien shake, and has just as much protien in it if not more.
I do miss my carbs sometimes, but it get's easier each day, and it's gonna be a culture shock when you realize food isnt the most important thing in your life anymore. I never thought it was that important in mine until after the surgery, and I realized every outing we planned, included a food stop somewhere, and it was a highlight! Not good, so were rearranging our thinking on that! Head hunger hasnt been to much of a problem at all, but when I smell something really good, I get ravenous, and tend to eat to fast. Chew, chew, chew, and slow way down, cause it's hard to tell your full until it hits and then your to full. Going to the Doc tommorrow to see how I'm doing, so that's all for now. Good Luck to anyone who takes this venture and remember, it's a tool to help us lose the weight, not the cure all. Self control is involved, and it's not always easy to make the right choices, although with the surgery, it's been easier. Until next time, it's great to be on the other side!!!!!!!
Well, here I am at 2 months out and it's two days after Christmas. Merry Christmas everybody!!!!!! I'm now offically 50 pounds down. WOO HOO!!!!!! My husband who notices nothing keeps looking at me, and finally said, wow, you can really see the difference babe! Isnt life great! I did have a few bad choices, like a chocolate chip cookie, but I stopped at one, and I only have a few doritoes when the craving hits, but for the most part, I'm sticking to my protiens. I have noticed that I'm able to eat more now, and I don't get the pain between my boobs when I'm full like I used to get. I can also swallow bigger gulps of water now, which helps refresh me faster when I'm really thirsty! Before I had to just sip, sip, sip. I have more energy now then Ive had in years!!!!!! No more naps in the daytime, and I still use my cpap, but I can sleep with out it, just not as well. I also noticed I can walk so much farther and longer without huffing and puffing the whole way, and I can move around and get up and down from a chair so much better. I wish I had done this years ago!!!!!! Thanks Doc Peter's your the best!!!
here I am, at 9 weeks out, and down 55 pounds!!!!!!! This has been the best exp of my life so far, aside from having my kids, which WAS the best. Anyone thinking about having this surgery,........do it!!!!!!!!My breathing is so much better, my sleep apnea is almost cured, and I have so much more energy!!!!! The holiday's were tough, and I did eat some treats, but I didn't over do it to much:):):) OK, maybe just a little bit, but I'm still losing, although slower, but it's still comming off! Anywho, it's the New Year, so back to eating right, and I'm looking forward to more and more weight loss! It's great to be on the other side!!!!!!
4 months post op, and down 74 pounds. Is this surgery great or what!!!! And I eat,............... alot!!!!! I eat something usually every two to three hours., even if it's something small and I feel great. Got my labs back finally, and they were pretty good, low in vitamin D and low in folic acid, so I added folic to my vitamins, and I'm trying to get more sun. That's it for now, but anyone thinking of having this surgery, this was the best thing I ever did for myself, I feel great!!!!!
Almost 5 months out and the weightloss has slowed down quite a bit, but Ive also been eating anything I want, after my protiens that is! I'm down 81 pounds, and am finally below the 200 mark!!!!!! WOO HOO life is so good!
Wow, it's been awhile! I'm now 7 months out and down 106 pounds! I weigh 171, never thought I'd see that again!!!! My BMI says I'm now overweight, but not obese, super obese, or morbidly obese!!!! WooHoo, this surgery us great. Gotta run, so busy now, but I'll try to write more later!

Ive lost a total of 128 pounds and my year annaversary is comming up. Life is great, and I feel wonderful and full of life! I just bought a pair of 8/10 stretch jeans! WOO HOO!!!!!!I always said I was a size 10 screaming to get out and now I'm here! It's wonderful to walk into a clothing store and pick something out without agonizing over if it makes me look to fat!!!!! Thank you Dr Peters from the bottom of my heart! I love life again!!!!!! Gonna go back to bed now, lots to do everyday, and I can do it all!!!!!!

Wow, I havent posted in awhile! It's the last day of January, 2006. I got down to 136, but hubby was bitching I looked to thin and drawn, so Ive been eating everything and anything, and Ive gotten back to 139. I felt fine at 136, and if I was to go back down, that would be fine with me to. I'm happy no matter what! Still need hernia repair, and that's comming soon. I'm working 90 hours a week (couldn't do that before this surgery!) Gonna run, got to get to bed, but again, thanks to everyone here at obesity help, and the DS message board!
