Sylvia, thanks for the info. I am still waiting for my approval. I think it will come fast. I appreciate the information on the wait for the different doctors. Good luck on your surgery!

Hi... My name is Carla and I have received my surgery date from Smart Dimensions. If you are just now asking your primary doctor much of the time line will depend on your insurance. I received my first approval in about 8 days. Smart Dimensions is very quick to get you in as fast as you want to go. Once you receive your orientation date you will meet some staff that will tell you exactly what your insurance plan requires to approve the actual surgerical procedure. I didn't know that a second approval was gonna be needed and soon learned that I needed to complete 4 other classes before they could send in my surgical approval. Again, depending on your insurance the average time need to receive the actual surgical approval consent can range anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks. I got mine much sooner than that. Again this depends on the insurance plan you have and how long they take to get it back to them. Once you get approval you need to select the doctor you want to do your surgery. Each one has different time lines for dates on surgery. I choose Dr. Ali who can usually do the surgery in 4 to 6 weeks. Dr. La Porte is running 3 months to get your surgery. The choice of doctor is up to you. It takes about a week for the office to call you with a date (depending on your doctor) and they call and set up everything. Smart Dimensions makes getting everything done to get the surgery as simple as possible, helping you get your stuff done on time. They are really great their and all seem to care a great deal about you...not just the process. I wish you good luck in goals and life. I hope this helps you to understand the process. You will learn all of this once you go to your orientation process.

well yesterday i went to my primary and he sent out the first letter. i am praying and hoping that it goes well. so anyone out there know how long it will take until i recieve a answer. when if i do get it and it's denied what do i do then any suggestion's. let me know . thanks:)

hello everyone today 4-10-06 i have my appointment to my primary to get a refferal to go to doctor leport. I'm hopeing that everything goes well with that. I already called my insurance and the medical group that i have does cover the lap band surgery only if it's not just for cosmetic. I am so anxious here at work and want to get this process going. My husband is going with me cause he is going to get a referral as well we both are going to do this together. My huband and I are not that great of shape and we've tried everything possiable to get this weight off and we have not had any luck it is soooooo.. hard. So please anyone have any words of advice to help us get the process go smoothly as possiable. holla back at me!!!! thanks p.s. i will be putting up a picture of myself as soon as i can get the nerve to do that.
