Going Well
Aug 03, 2009
Everything is going so well I can't believe it. I'm feeling great, lots of energy, and consistently losing weight. Eating soft food and its going well, in fact at times I can hardly get all of it down, best left uneaten. I miss drinking with my meals - I'm so thirsty at times but it passes.
Thats about it for now more later.

Dr follow-up
Jul 29, 2009
Went for my first follow-up after surgery, 12 days post op. I've lost 16 pounds - WOW. So needles to say I'm ahead of schedule for my loss. I know not to excpect this from now on, he said 1-3 pounds average a week. But I'm still excited. Feeling great.

Added a head shot ~ lucky cause I haven't had a picture taken since I don't know when. The one thing that hurts the most is that I don't have any pix of me, hubby or daughter for at least 25 years. She was about 3 then and will be 28 in Nov. But what depresses me the most is no graduation pictures from high school or college. Well very soon I'll make up for that!!!

One week post-op
Jul 24, 2009
WOW what a difference a week makes, even a day. The last two days I've felt rather funky, not bad, just not quite right. Had and excellant night's sleep, only got up once to pee ~~~ YEAH!
I've been more active today and really feel like going out. I'm still having some bleeding problems from the incision where drain tube was, which is still depressing but it IS getting better. I'm just afraid if I go out it will leak thru and the blood will show. But still I feel great!
I was 280 at the hospital and sadly 284 when I came home - alot of fluid buildup, my feet were so swollen couldn't get shoes on, wore slippers home.
Well, today I weighted myself and and it was 272!!!!!!!!!!!! I could cry its so wonderful. Can't imagine what will be when I can finally go out and do my walking!
I am diffently very proud of myself.

6 days out
Jul 22, 2009
Every day gets better and better. I'm not hungry and I find by 5pm I don't want anything but must keep drinking protien for hydration and energy.
I had the hyatial hernia repaired which turned out to be extremely large and difficult to repair. That is where most (all) pain, which isn't much, is. Had to stay extra day for that. Before and after taking out drain tube the incision area leaked and am still dealing with that. Said it might take 5 to 7 days to heal up
. I'm afraid to get dressed and go out for fear of leaking and getting blood on everything. I have to get out soon, I'm going nuts!
Tomorrow I can start on some more food, pudding, jello, etc which will be nice, I need that texture thing, something that just slided down your throat is boring.

3:30 am and can't sleep, nervous, anxious. I know this will be the best thing for me but who isn't scared the night before surgery, wish I had someone to talk to.
Get Set - GO
Jul 16, 2009
Well I have to be at the hospital at 11:30am and surgery is set for 1:30pm, Wish it was earlier but what can you do about it - nothing. I doubt I'll get much sleep tonight but then I don't really do much anyway.
Had light breadkfast and salad for lunch, don't know what I'll do for supper. Right now nothing appeals to me.
I'm nervous but I have alot of support from family and friends so it helps. I DO have a positive attitude and looking forward to happier and healthier days ahead!
I'll post as soon as I get home, don't know if it will be Sun or Mon.

Getting close
Jul 14, 2009
Well Friday, July 17 is my big day. It seems like yesterday I started looking into bypass surgery but its been 8 long months of tests and diets and just plain waiting. I'm nervous, excited all at the same time. I've wanted this for so long and now its only 2 days away, wish I knew what time, hope it 's EARLY!
