Why did I do it. . . .Big Big Big Mistake

Sep 19, 2012

Well it's been a bit more than 2 years or so since my last post.  My life has be flipped upside down and turned inside out.

September 2010 I had put on so much weight my body began to become what I call under attack of the fat.  All that could go wrong did.  To say the leaset I broke my ankle in 3 diff places . Who would even think that was possible with torn ligaments too.  So I had surgery and was out of comission for .6.5 months . My Mom came down to help me and convinced me to go to NY "till you get better."  Well 2 years later Im still in NY.  I was happy to be back with my family, but at the end of the day it was still just me and mines.  Same thing I had in FL.

Now that I am "better" with God's help I have decided to relocate back to South and I can't wait!  Where I feel is a better fit for me and mines.  No more thinking about being closer to family, those people are nuts.  LMAO.  While here in NY gained yet another 20 pounds.  Ya'll know how it is with all that southern home cooking every Sunday!  That is the one thing I will miss the most.

RNY vs LB

May 07, 2010

So the more research I do....the more I'm torn between RNY vs. LB. The lap Band appears to me, to be the safest one because it doesn't alter the body anatomy.  But if you are not on point with the diets and exercise, you won't loose any weights.  I've seen people get the band and only loose 30-40 pounds...I know both of these are only a tool and I have to work to get the desired results.  But I have to keep it real...diet and exercises, or the lack of is what got me here.  uuuggghh!!

Attended the seminar. . . .

May 06, 2010

I attended a WLS seminar last night and I was surprised to see all of the doctors, nurses, nutritionists, therapists, and trainers.  This Bay Car team had there their stuff together!! They answered all questions professionally and with lots of caution.  I say caution because "we've" heard so much about what could go wrong with the procedures, they wanted to give us the facts and the benefits.
It was interesting to see how many people opting for the lap band.  I was under the impression those of us over 300 pounds would be leaning towards Bypass.  Well the Surgeon explained they usually go with the surgery of the patients choice, however, those with Type 2 Diabetes, they further discuss the best option for them.

Well I'm definitely ready to get the ball rolling on the journey. . .the nutritionist said the office should be calling within 3 business days to make an appointment with the surgeon.  I feel like I don't want to wait for them to call me.  I know my insurance company will cover the bill, so I don't want to wait......as you can see I'm very impatient.

Finding Support. . . .

May 04, 2010

I stumbled upon this site yesterday, it's awesome. I've been doing research on WLS now for about 7 months.  Reading, watching videos, and talking to people.  I find the people who do not suffer with Obesity, don't have many positive things to say about  WLS.  They all seem to think its the easy way out.  I find myself having to defend my position, and frankly I don't feel I need to debate about a choice I've made about my life.

While I am just at the beginning stages of my Journey, its' important for me to surround my self with positive people.  I will be attending my a WLS seminar tomorrow evening and I hope to find a support group.  I've been isolating myself for 2 years now, and I know if I'm gonna succeed I need to get out and talk to folks.
