Michele M.
My journey began long, long ago. As a small child, I didn't have a weight problem, but as I started school, I gained some weight and kids being kids, so began the long line of teasing, name calling and self criticism. I was on amphetamines from the age of 10 and weighed 200 lbs. in 8th grade.
I'll be 53 in October, have 6 wonderful children and 5 fabulous grandchildren. My moment of truth happened earlier this year when I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and have been sleeping with a CPAP. It finally hit me.... you are 52 and you're going to sound like Darth Vader for the rest of your life? Seriously though, it has been a godsend. Apparently I stopped breathing for 57 seconds so obviously it has become a necessary part of my life for now.
I'm like most everyone here, we've tried it all, and lose and gain it back. This procedure is the tool I need to succeed for the last time. I have been on every weight loss program available, been to doctors, tried support groups, hypnotism, you name it, I've been there. Sure I lost weight, but obvioulsy have never been successful for longer than a year. It's time for a change. That change is now.
My surgery date is 9/5 and I look forward to posting my progress. Thank you Susan for agreeing to be my Angel. You will be a huge help, I know.
