Lupus or Eczema

Jun 13, 2011

Wow, I had such an exciting weekend (not!). I ended up spending the entire weekend in the hospital! About a month ago I was breaking out all over my face...been told 5 years ago it was Cystic Acne. Saw my doctor in may and she gave me some antibiotic and told me if it doesn't improve to go to the ER. well over time it got worse and spread all over my face. On my left cheek it was really bad and for 2 days last week before I went to the ER it was leaking fluid. So after work on thursday I went over to the hospital. The ER doctor admitted me becasue he said if there is swelling and inflammation around the eyes/nose area they call it the "triangle of death", NICE!

So of course they had me on IV antibiotics(Clindamycin), first they started out with about 400 mg every 8 hours and they jumped to 900 mg!

The next day Infectious Disease came and took a look, then Dermatology. The Derm people said it was NOT Cystic Acne. (interesting). They said it could be a form of skin Lupus or could be a form of Eczema. They took a biopsy and I should get my results back this week. Oh yeah and they also said it was cellulitis
of the face.

I must admit this really caught me off guard, I thought that the next thing I would be hospitalized for would be my gall bladder or complication from WLS.

..Oh yeah and one more thing.....I told them I was on a high protein diet and the RD there was clueless. they kept giving me bread and rice(ack!), and the little protein that was sent up on the tray was tough, unchewable meat.
Fresh fruit was scarce and my snack that they kept giving me was pudding. Sooo my protein & potassium levels dropped while I was in there and my liver enzymes are a little off and of course I've been slighty anemic since surgery...................ARE WE HAVING FUN YET??

May 08, 2011

Well today is May 8th, and 3 months ago today I had my RNY. When I stepped on the scale this morning I am down 53 lbs! Only 32 lbs more till Onederland!!(199). Yesterday the hospital where I had my surgery had a plus size clothing sale so I dropped by and bought a whole bunch of clothes in smaller sizes. I am currently a size 24, down from a size 26/28. I bought some really cute gently used clothes in sizes 16-20. Some of the brands were Talbot's and Old Navy, needless to say I snatched those right up.
The clothes were orangized according to size, and I must admit the racks that were 16-18 had such cute clothes and when you looked at the size 24 rack of clothes gawd they were some ugly gross clothes. Most of the stuff I bought were priced between one and 4 dollars and I spent $55!! So I bought A LOT of clothes!! I was like a kid in the candy store!! Just wait till I slim down more and hit the "REAL" stores, my bank account may never recover!!

Stuck

Mar 17, 2011

Stuck.....as in food stuck....well today started out nicely, everything going good at work, till lunch time came. Then I ate my lunch, and half way thru I starting getting that "full" feeling that tells me to stop. Well I stopped but it was too late. A big piece of meat logged some where around my pouch and decided to not move. OMG that was the most painfull thing I have experienced in a long time. Even my surgery didn't hurt that much. I was walking up and down the hallway trying and praying that the food would move, but not having any luck. finally I told my boss I had to leave because I was in so much pain (and screaming out in pain at work wasn't going to go over too well). So I leave and start driving home, about half way home I start to salivate alot which is my clue that vomiting just might happen. Now granted I have not had any vomiting issues since my surgery and I was terrified to vomit with this new stomach. So before I can even pull over to the side of the road, up it comes, all over me(yuk!!) but it is foamy weird stuff, that of course I have read about and have no clue why the foam and not food, but anyways soon after the pain starts to lessen. I hope to god this never happens again!!

2 Weeks Post-op

Feb 22, 2011

Well, 2 weeks ago today was my surgery. My surgery was @ 11:45 and I got into recovery about 3 P.M.
Well unfortunately all the rooms were booked up at the hospital so I stayed in recovery till 8 p.m.
The first night I had to share a room with an elderly lady who had diarrhea and needed to use the bed pan every 30 minutes. Thank god my sense of smell was dulled! The next two nights I was in a private room(thank god), oh yeah, they keep me an extra night because of bad nausea. On the day I left the hospital, the surgeon decided to leave On-cue Pain Pump on me and refill it back up since I was in so much pain once it ran dry the day before. The first 8-10 days I must admit were pretty hard, things have gotten better, I haven't taken any Vicodin since Sunday(2 days ago). I started my soft food diet today and it had been wonderful. I am soooooo sick of the liquid diet.
Last thursday I went to my doctor's appt. and 9 days post-op I lost 17 lbs! (wow)!! I just got a new battery for my scale and weighed myself earlier and I'm down 20 lbs now since surgery!!

Waiting....

Jan 21, 2011

Just playing the waiting game now. Had my last appt. with the PCP this morning, that complete's my 7 month doctor supervised diet. They faxed all the info over to my surgeon's office before I even left and  I called the surgeon's office soon after to let them know it was coming, they said yup, we have received it and are submitting it today. So now I wait to hear if the Insurance company will approve it or not. My surgery is suppose to be feb 7th, so this is cutting it kinda close. So hopefully I will hear back next week, and if they don't approve it I will be doing this  ---->

Upper Endoscopy

Nov 12, 2010

Well had my Upper Endoscopy this morning, everything went well and was easier than I thought it would be. Already had the Psych evaluation & Ultrasound on my gall bladder last month. So in Jan I just need a blood test, EKG and a Chest X-ray. I'll be so glad when i'm done with seeing the nutritionist every month, that is one thing I will not miss, that and my PCP. My nutritionist is not a happy camper because i'm not losing very much weight on her 1200 calorie/day diet. I feel like i'm starving with that amount of calories. Oh well enough about that, i'll rant and rave about that in another future blog......
