Two weeks post-op and I'm a big old loser!!!

May 01, 2008

I am two weeks post op.  I met with Dr. Buckley and I am exactly where I should be at this point!  It's funny how just hearing that is like a physical band-aid on what ails you!!!  I had my appointment today with the NP and NUT and can start the post-op program next week!  I'm so happy with my new me....I weighed in today at 177.3 which is almost 30 pounds from where I started.  I can't even believe it!

Home again!

Apr 21, 2008

I've actully been home since Saturday and I'm really starting to feel semi-human again.  There's still quite a bit of discomfort but other than that I think I'm OK!

I had my suregery on Wednesday and was good...even got up and walked that night..but Thursday...man oh man... I totally hit a wall.  I honestly believe it's the pain medication that makes me sick.  But once they got the nauseau and pain under control I was good to go!   Good old liquid percocet!!

Tomorrow is my day!!!  I am so excited I can barely sit still.  I finished my round of liquids and once I got over the hump, I settled right into it.

Checking is time tomorrow is 630am with a surgery time of 8.  I'm glad it's early in the morning.

I had my pre-op with Dr. Buckley and I'm sooo ready to go!

I am so fortunate to have this new lease on life!!

Well I got the call from Annie that finalizes everything.  I am approved by my insurance company to have the surgery!  And then....I received a letter from BCBS stating the surgery was approved!

Life is good!  I will be spending the next 6 weeks getting my body in the best physical shape I can be in so I can have a speedy recovery.  Someone is looking out for me!

New ME

Jan 06, 2008

Well I am feeling pretty good about myself these days.  I have completed the pre-op program to everyone's satisfaction.  It's really a great program and I developed some great eating and exercising habits.

I'm thinking I'm going to take this big old bag off my head now!!!!

CLEARED FOR SURGERY!!!

Jan 02, 2008

Today was week 7 of my pre-op risk reduction program and I have been cleared for surgery!!!

I am so excited yet nervous at the same time.  Now comes the wait for a date and for my insurance approval.  I have new insurance as of yesterday, so hopefully there will be no snags in  my approval.

I must say, the program was very beneficial and I have really prepared myself for the next step.

Here's to all our troops!! May they come home safely!

I attended my first group meeting of the Pre-op risk reduction, and I have to say I think it is a good thing for me to participate in.  It's a combination of health assessment, exercise and nutritional counseling.  I do absolutely no exercise and really and truly have horrible heating habits, skipping meals at lease once a day.  The object is to get my body and mind into the best possible place before surgery.  I will particiapate 100% in this program and see where it leaves me!!

Well today I heard back from the "team".  They are insisting that I participate in a Pre-op Risk Reduction program with Heart & Wellness before they will give me the green light for surgery.  It is a minimum of 4 weeks from what I understand and varies greatly on the individual.  They have concerns about my eating when stressed or anxious.  Honestly,  I don't really think I do that....I tend more NOT to eat, and I think that is what their concers are.
I really have very bad eating habits and hardly ever eat regular meals.  I skip meals and then will eat anything I can get my hands on when my blood sugar starts to drop.

They have a program starting Wednesday @ 730pm that's full.  They are going to try and let me join that group, so please I need all of your prayers that I can get into this class.  I'm sure if they are wanting me to do this program
then it is absolutely in my best interest but I really need to attend
this class.  The other class starting up is Thursday mornings @ 9, and I just don't know how I will do that.  Truly I don't and I have no idea when another evevening class might start up.

In addition to all this, I have to change my insurance plan on January 1st.  I was hopeful to get the surgery by the 31st so I wouldn't have to start over with a new insurance company, but we will see what happens.

So.....I'll learn how to eat properly pre-op is what I am thinking and then I can have the surgery.
