Born in the fifties and was raised by good people but man - all those poor little starving kids in the world and I had to eat everything on my plate. Basically, I was tall and big boned (or soI thought) so I always carried my extra poundage well and of course nobody ever said anything about it. Then puberty set in and up, up and up. At 20, I weighed about 200 lbs.  I tried to lose weight but every time I got down I would return to my nasty bad habits and gain it all back.  I can probably write a book about losing weight ... which one do you want to know about.  If you want I can name them all but I think South Beach was the best one besides the WMC at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.  I've tried them all.  I can lose but I just can't seem to maintain the loss and each time I go on a program, I gain a little bit more.  At 35, up to 250 lbs.  Feel like crap and can't seem to do anything about this weight problem.  Everything else seems to be going well in my life except my weight problem.  Parents get sick ... diabetis, high blood pressure, heart problems, cholesterol, kidney dialysis.  Ok, I'm going to try and get serious about this weight problem.  at 40ish and 270 lbs, I go see Dr. R. Dent at the Weight Management Clinic in Ottawa.  Great success.  I feel wonderful.  Am exercising alot and maintaining then I get an injury.  So I fall off the wagon and the bad food habits return and weight goes back up.  50th birthday comes along and I am still doing the yoyo thing.  In November 2007, I go see Dr. Dent (I keep ini contact with him always) because I am so frustrated - I am soon approaching the age when my parents started to get sick.  I am on and off product (optifast) up and down and it is like a roller coaster.  He asks if I would like to consider surgery.  There is a WLS Centre of Excellence in Toronto and he is willing to make the referral.  I agree.  First appointment with Dr. Laz Klein in Toronto in January 2008 and he suggests I see Dr. Quoc Hughn.  Second apointment in May 2008 in Toronto with dietician, social worker and other doctor.  Third appointment in May with Dr. Hugnh.  Next appointment with anesthisialogist on June 2.
Surgery scheduled for June 25.   Then down down down ... Christmas I reach onderland ... (down 100 lbs).  Mid-May I reach goal.  Now for the maintenance ... remember that's where I have the trouble.  Keep on checking for updates.

When people make comments about my weight loss

-  I'm uncertain why you think we have developed the type of relationship where you think you could talk to me about my private matters".

- Thank you for your concern, but I prefer to talk about my personal business with friends and family.
