Hello. My decision to have the RNY was because I hit my "ROCK BOTTOM"Nov.2010 when my diabetes was so out of control and I got an infection in my two fingers on my right hand down to the tips of my bones and needed an emergency surgey. My primary physician said to me before the surgery,"life or limb?".That was enough for me to make a change and wanted my life back.I was pretty embarassed and terrified. What kind of example was I to my three children age four to twelve? My loving husband of sixteen years was really concerned and had been on me to take care of my diabetes for a few years, but I shoved it under the rug and did not take it seriously. It was the surgery that got me thinking of WLS.I had battled weight issues for over 15 years.
I then attended a seminar on WLS and was set on it right from the beginning.I attended the manditory three months of Options classes through Kaiser and did all my work up tests, psych evaluation, interview, support group meetings,a seminar that my surgeon taught etc.The whole process took ten months from the beginning to surgery on Jan.9th 2012.
It felt like forever, but so worth the wait!Through the whole process I believed I was making the best choice for me and my future health.I have so much support from my husband and children, family and friends! My faith in the Lord has lead me safely and that was my prayer from the beginning.HE is my strength and I feel very excited about this journey that I am on.My highest weight was 269lbs.My surgery weight was 255 lbs and sixteen day's later which is today,I am 239!I am on my way!

Best wishes to all!!!!!
