Life is Good
Sep 17, 2008
I see I have not posted since Easter. WOW just like everyone else I have not beel faithful to post. We post all the time in the beginning and then as time goes on and we stop losing or that slows down we tend to stop posting. I am at 220 now and that is a total loss of 126 pounds gone. My wife and I went on a cruise and I lost 5 pounds. Friends really do not believe that one becuase mose every normal person alive will gain weight on a cruise. I feel great and my wife says i look great. I probably will never be able to afford the skin surgery I need but i am so happy with my decision to have this surgery. We try to walk most days and I drink plenty of water everyday but i do snack too much and that is why I have not lost more weight. But i am happy where my weight is so if I never lose another pound that is okay with me. I have not gained any weight back and that is also a blessing.

Happy easter. He is risen indeed! I am just past 39 weeks or 273 days post op and i have lost 116 pounds. I lost 2 more this past week. There were a few weeks that I lost nothing or even gained a pound or would go back and forth and finally now the scales have started moving again. I am at 230 and i am fine with that weight but i am also happy to lose more. If i can have skin surgery one day down the road that would be a blessing and i would lose 10 to 20 pounds with the surgery so we will see. Just wanted to update this since i have not commented in a couple of months. I do update the weight loss thing at the bottom of my page. God is Good. Jim
32 weeks post op
Jan 28, 2008
I am 32 weeks post op this week and I have gone from 348 to 238. That is 110 pounds gone in 7 months and I thank God for that. I lose 2 pounds a week or every two weeks now. Some weeks i don't lose at all and some weeks i do but that is okay. I feel great and I am in 40 jeans now and most xl shirts. I am thankful for this surgery. One day to get rid of the skin would be a blessing but i don't see that happening any time soon. God Bless. Isa 40:31
things are moving slow
Dec 25, 2007
well things like weight loss have slowed down a lot. But at least the scale is still moving down. I have read so many profiles and it seems that people are real busy posting updates before and after surgery and then they reach a point and just stop or get less frequent and i have to wonder what happened to them. As i make food choices each day i see what a problem eating food can still be. When i eat real food now i can not eat much. If i eat soup or chili i can eat more of it because of the water or liquid i guess. So the weight loss would have to be based on the type of food that we take in. So while i am doing okay i can see where it could be better. My wife and i have not had as much time to go to the gym this month and i know that has an effect. Maybe we will be able to go most everyday after the holidays. we will be traveling this week and next week so that is not going to give us much time to go. After new years we will have to be more consistant and I know we will.
Tomorrow will be 27 weeks post op and 182 days. I have lost from 348 to 244 and my BMI has gone from 46.5 to 32.2 so there are some good things. Everything I do is easier at this weight and I feel great. I will always have skin and fat problems around my stomach until one day if i am able to have skin surgery. Even with the skin i am in 42 jeans and I can wear most XL shirts.
short update
Dec 02, 2007
Just a short update to say I reached the 100 pounds gone today. It tool me 165 days but I made it. I hope i can continue to lose even though it has slowed down at least it is still going down and it is the holidays. I feel so blessed in this area. Thank you Kim and Dr. Freeman. God bless, Jim

348/250 pounds today
46.5/32.9 BMI today
I am now down to 250 pounds and a BMI of 32.9. I thank God for that and those numbers. We had one of our family Thanksgiving meals yesterday and there was so much food and deserts there. It all looked and smelled so good. I took a bowl of chili from home and that is was i had to eat. We even took a home made coconut cake that I made and i did not even have any of it. I use fresh coconut and make the iceing so it is really good. I weighed this morning and i lost 3 more pounds this past week and that was after having the big meal yesterday. I think back to when i was not hungry and could not eat any food and food did not look or smell good at all. It was easy then and now i see that it is going to be hard as ever to lose weight and keep it off because food is going to be good again. The best thing i have done is to stick with soups and chili because i can eat moreof it because of all the liquid and it goes down easy and helps to keep losing weight. I will be 6 months out on december 21st and i should be able to reach the 100 pounds lost before then. Our little boy is 17 months old and we are thinking about having another one. God is good. Jim

18 weeks/ 126 days post op
91 pounds gone as of 10/22/2007
33.9 bmi
well you can see the numbers for yourself. they are pretty good.
let me stop right here and say last weekend alabama beat tennessee and lsu beat aauburn so that was a great weekend. infact it does not get much better than that. i am not a football idiot but i do hate tennessee and auburn so since this is my spot i can voice that.
I have had so many WOW moments. I have a lot of clothes i wore a few years ago and they just now fit. xl shirts and dress shirts i had for church. i am in 44 jeans and have been for a couple of weeks and i tried on the 42 jeans today and got them on and buttoned. I will not wear them for a few weeks but i am getting close.
What am i doing? I eat no breakfast at this point and have not since surgery. I cannot do eggs and bacon so i just don't eat breakfast unless it is sunflower seeds or nuts. I drink water all day. I get in 80 to 120 oz most every day. I really do not miss diet drinks like i did at first. for lunch and supper i have soup, chili, gumbo, or wendy's chili if i am out. I make a big pot of one of these and i eat it until it is gone and make somethign else. During the day i will eat seeds or nuts. I am already dreaming about how low my weight will get to and i am not even below 250 yet. Kinda silly. I do think sometimes I will get below 200 but i do not ever say that out loud because i don't want to dissapoint me or someone else. it is like if i don't say it then no one will expect it not even me. so please help me keep my secret. :) i am so thankful for this surgery. i see so many people talk abotu being approved by insurance and it makes me sad for me because we are paying for this surgery ourselves and will be each month for a long time. bcbs would not pay because we do not have 50 employees.i am so much better off. i have more energy and if i never lost another pound it woudl still be worth it. i have been pretty steady with weight loss and have lost about 3 pounds a week. I never want to be one of the people that say i have gained x number of pounds from my low point and have to figure out a way to get them off. that is one of the main reasons i stay away from foods i know i don't need to eat. i can see the joy in kim's eyes when she looks at me. My head has not caught up with my weight loss yet. I will still be obese until i get below 30 bmi. I do feel good about the new me. I love you honey. isa 40:31
16 week update
Oct 11, 2007
well yesterday was 16 weeks and today is 113 days post op. Where does the time go? Today i decided to try on the 44 jeans as the 48 jeans i was wearing were so baggy. he he Can you see my BIG smile????I have them on. They are a little tight when i sit but not so bad i can not wear them. I also tried on a long sleeve shirt we bought in Maine and it fits great. I remember telling Kim that it was silly to buy shirts so samll i could not wear and she just smiled and said you will before long after surgery. My head sure is lagging behind my weight loss. But i am so cute today and i feel so good to be in these clothes. As of last monday my offical weigh day i was at 85 pounds gone. I thank my wonderful wife and our precious Lord for all of this. Where would i be without either of you. I write here instead of posting on the board because it is like writing in my journal and i don't think anyone will ever stumble on my ramblings. If they ever do i hope something i have said will help and encourage them. Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get. thanks, Jim
almost 15 weeks post op 102 days today
Oct 01, 2007
Last week i decided to try on some shirts that my wife and i bought while in Maine before my surgery. We bought 2x because we knew one day after surgery I would be able to wear them. So last week I decided to ry them on for the first time. They fit and fit real well. Not busting out of them but fit like they had extra room. WOW what a moment. I wore a different one each day of the week. I have been wearing 50 jeans for a long time and this weekend i decided to try out the 48 jeans and they fit and were pretty loose so i decided to try the one pair of 46 jeans on and they were loose so i put the 44's on and i can wear them but they are a little tight. So in another week or two I will be in the 44 jeans. I am so thankful to God for this and I give him the Glory. I have lost 81 pounds as of this morning. That is an average of over 5 pounds per week so far. thank you Kim and Lord. isa 40:31
THREE MONTHS POST OP
Sep 21, 2007
i HAD THE SURGERY ON JUNE 21ST SO TODAY IT HAS BEEN THREE MONTHS. I HAVE LOST AT LEAST 76 POUNDS AND THAT IS GREAT. MY WIFE AND I WENT TO ANNISTON TO SEE DR FREEMAN THIS WEEK FOR MY THREE MONTH CHECK UP OR FOLLOW UP. THEY SAID EVERY THING LOOKS GREAT. I HAVE NOT BEEN DRINKING A PROTEIN SHAKE SO I WAS WONDERING ABOUT THE PROTEIN. BUT THEY SAID IT WAS FINE. WE GOT TO SPEND A FEW MINUTES VISITING WITH DR FREEMAN. HE WAS VERY BUSY AND REAL TIRED BUT HE TOOK THE TIME ANYWAY. hE HAS A GREAT STAFF TO WORK WITH HIM AND THAT IS ONE MORE REASON THEY ARE THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY AT WHAT THEY DO. THE SURGERY IS OVER ADN WE ARE STUCK WITH PAYING FOR IT EACH MONTH BUT I WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A HEART BEAT. I COULD HAVE LOST THE 76 POUNDS ANOTHER WAY BUT I COULD HAVE NEVER KEPT IT OFF ANY OTER WAY AND I KNOW IT. TO GOD BE THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE.
