Hi all,
I'm a 49 year old, very proud grandma. I had my surgery at Hurley Medicial Center on May 27, 2004. I have had a very successful journey losing 200 pounds.
I will be the first to tell everyone, this is not a fix it and be done thing. I have to work hard every day to keep the weight off.

I used to be on this site all the time, before, during and after my surgery and for some reason or another, I just faded away from the wonderful support on here. After struggeling with a roller coaster ride over the past year of ups and downs in weight. I have started getting very serious about my choices and how easy it would be to put all that sickness back on my bones. I do not want to ever go back to that depression ever again. Life has truely been wonderful since my weight loss and health return. NO MORE MISERY! Tomorrow I go with one of my best friends to have her consultation at Hurley and am so excited for her and her health. She was one of my biggest supporters throughout my entire decision process, surgery and the slide down the fat ladder. So I plan on being there for her all the way! Hopefully relearning all my good habits and eliminating these nasty ones outta my life. Tomorrow is just the beginning!

Woo hoo, got a call last night from my friend, she has been approved by her insurance one day, and the next day she got her date from Hurley. That is just the fastest turn around time I've ever heard of. I'm gonna try to get some time off work to go with her and her family for support.
Another note, is I lost another 4 lbs this last week, so things are looking brighter all the way around. I'm starting my excercize routine again too. Life is too short, sp ya gotta stay healthy and if you don't use the tool and follow the rules, it's real easy to drift back to old habits and HEAVY burdens. So I'm back on track again and feeling great. All for now.

Had a great day today. We are starting count down for my friend and her surgery 20 days till a new beginning of a healthier life style. I am so excited for her and her family. They have got to be so excited that their wife and mom is going to be Healthy again! Only God knows where I would have ended up if I didn't have MY surgery! I know this for a fact...It saved my life! Even my doctor agrees with that 100%. I can't wait for them to have a love one be able to sleep without a breathing machine, and walk a block without stroking out! It's true healthy life that is the given back to each of us that is blessed with this acceptance of choice. Please keep my friend, her family and her surgeon in your prayers. We all need all the help we can get when going through change. (((HUGS))) to all. Later.

We'll today was a rough one. Steve was home to go hunting, and I was sicker than I've been in a few years. Throwing up and fever. I guess it was a good time for him to be away...LOL. I finally got to feeling somewhat better around 4 this afternoon. Good enough to get down some hot tea and curl up with my latest book I'm reading which I highly recommend to all my WLS buddies. It's titled "Water with Lemon" by Zonya Foco, RD and Stephen Moss. It's a great story, that teaches the diet-free, guilt free techniques of weight loss, or just personal lifestyle change as well. My friend made it through her surgery with few complications, and is home recouperating and doing extremely well. Her family is so happy things are going so well, I'm so happy with how they are all supporting her so nicely.
Well all for now....back to my book and more sleep.
